I imagine a good many people
were most unhappy with the
weather conditions over the holi-
day weekend with so, many cele-
brations planned for the Domin-
ion Day holiday, especially
since we had sufficent rain all
during the week.
We would like to thank all who
brought in fresh strawberries,
they certainly were very much
enjoyed by the Residents, also
the rhubarb which was all pre-
pared for the freezer. Fresh fruit
and vegetables in season is al-
ways a treat.
We ae pleased to welcome Mrs.
Ellen Thiel, formerly of Zurich,
to the Home. Tenants who have
moved into Maplewoods Apart-
ments during the past week are
Mrs. Lovina Miller, formerly of
Zurich, Mrs. Verna Twitchell,
formerly of Hensall and Mrs.
Louise Geilen, formerly of Inger-
soll. We welcome these_, people
to their new surroundings and we
hope you will too.
On Friday evening bingo was
played followed by refreshments.
On Saturday afternoon a num-
ber of former Bayfield Residents
went by bus to Bayfield to take in
the centennial parade. No doubt
they also visited with old friends
and neighbours.
The sympathy of Residents and
Staff is extended to Mr.. Wm.
Passmore and his family in the
passing of Mrs. Wm. Passmore.
The Sunday evening chapel
service was con-
ducted by Rev. Andrew Black-
well of St. Peter's Lutheran
Open house
at Huronview
The OpenHouse at the Home
during Senior. Citizens Week was
quite successful with 390 senior
citizens registering.
The residents appreciated the
visitors very much as it gave them
an opportunity to see many of
their friends. Many thanks to the
Huronview Auxiliary who were
responsible for the registration
and to allof the residents and
staff who helped in so many ways
during the week.
The Brussels Friendship Club
had dinner at the Home on Fri-
day and joined the residents for
an afternoon of Bingo.
Fifty members of the Seaforth
Happy Citizens Club visited the
Home . on Saturday and after
dinner sponsored an afternoon of
games. Mrs. Elizabeth Scott
won the prize for the eldest
lady euchre player and John
McCallum was the winner for
the men.
Mr. Dick Roorda led the
Sunday evening song service
sponsored by the Clinton Chris-
tian Reformed Church.
•
The Clinton Centennial Band
played for a concert on the lawn
on Family Night. The weather
cleared just in time and many of,
the residents were able to be
outdoors while those who were
inside were able to see and hear
the band from the west windows.
Mrs. Storey is the new leader of
the band and wish her every
success in this very helpful
project in any community.
Church, Zurich, Mrs. Audrey
Haberer presided at the organ
during the worship service.
