A short business period followed at which. Mrs. Alec Hamilton reported on attending the Officers Conference at Waterloo Univer- sity, and the District annual held at Crediton in May. The Zurich fair W.I. exhibit was discussed for July. Mrs. Olive Miller was in charge of the social period with surprise games. Lucky chair won by Mrs. J. Smeekens; sticker on pin card won by Mrs. Marge Mason; closet birthday to date Mrs. Ruth Hendrick. Tickets were drawn for age groups. Closest to 40-50 years, Mrs. Alan Waiper; closest to 50-60 years, Mrs. J. Smeekens; Clos- est to 60-70, Mrs, Manford Luth- er; over 70 years, Mrs. Walter Fassold. Prettiest long hair won by Mrs. Rosie Grigg. Special guests were the 4-H leaders Mrs. J. Smeekens and Mrs. Alan Walper. They report- ed the next 4-H project in the fall will be the "Cereal Shelf". This was the last Women's Institute meeting until Septem- ber. Mr. and Mrs. Tom. Belt of Milford, Michigan, and Mrs. Lily Moore of Detroit, spent the weekend with their sister Mrs. Leroy Bariteau. Mr. and Mrs. Alec Hamilton attended the Lambton County Historical meeting Thursday eve- ning at Petrolia. Art Baker is a patient at University Hospital, London, where he had a heart pacer implanted. Mr. and Mrs. John Carter of Hamilton visited recently with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Alec Hamilton. The Church of God ladies held their June meeting, Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Harold Chamberjine, with 12 in attendance. Mrs. Morley Desjardine con- ducted the worship service on the theme of summer, the beauty of things and vacations. The topic was taken by Mrs. Katie Vincent and she spoke on missionaries, Mr, and Mrs. Philip Kinley, who. are serving in Japan. Mr. and Mrs. Jim McLaren of Clinton spent the week .end with his sister, Mrs. Raymond Kading. Sunday visitors with Mr.' and Mrs. Alvin Statton were Mrs. Mabel Desjardine of Shipka. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cooper of Exeter and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Desjardine of Huron Park. Rev. and Mrs. John Campbell, Debbie Snider and Mr. and Mrs. George Winegarden, Jamie and Jackie, all attended the International convention of Church of God last week at Anderson, Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Louie Walker of Pontiac, stayed with Laura Lee and Doug- las Campbell while their parents were away. - A good crowd attended the Decoration Service at Grand Bend United Church Cemetery Sunday afternoon. Ed Gill was master of ceremonies. Rev. H. Moore was speaker, and Alex Desjardine led in group hymn singing. The Senior Citizens white elephant table was quite success- ful during the Buffalo Burger Fest weekend and a number of tickets sold on their hand made quilt. Outdoor services at the United Church will begin July 4, weather permitting. Mrs. Ross Meyers, of Toronto, will be playing the organ for the summer at St. Johns by the Lake Anglican Church. Rev. H. Moore's sermon topic at the morning service in Grand Bend United Church was "Invi- tations and excuses". A trio consisting of Mrs. Marie Mc- Kinnon, Mrs. Nola Love and Buelah Holt, sang "The Story of Old". Around 150 attended the pan- cake breakfast, Saturday morning at the United Church. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Morenz and girls were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Morenz, Cheri and Michelle of London and Mr. and Mrs. John McNish of Lake Orion. Crediton mishap hospitalizes four persons Four people are in the hospital as the result of a two car collision Sunday morning at the King St. intersection in Crediton. Both drivers, William Lang, 19. of London and Richard Fink- beiner, 20, of Crediton, and two passengers in the Lang vehicle, Robert Chambers, 21, and Murray Brown, 20, both of .London are in the hospital. All are in good condition except for Chambers who is in poor condition with serious head in- juries. The collision caused an estimated $5.000 damage. Charges are pending. Exeter OPP were also called to investigate a break, enter and theft at the Beaver Food Service Ltd. About $15 in cans and food were stolen. They were also involved in other traffic investigations, in- cluding- nne in Zurich when the car of Douglas Turkheim, Zurich, struck a protruding manhole cover during a heavy downpour. Damage was estimated at $800 to the Turkheim car in the Saturday morning accident. Robert Lawrence, 16, of Huron Park, and his.passenger, Beverly Learn, 16, from Exeter both sustained minor injuries when the La-wrence vehicle overturned afterr'Lawrence had lost control of his car Saturday morning. In all, the Exeter detachment of the OPP laid four charges under the criminal Code, 16 under the Liquor Licence Act and 53 in the Highway Traffic Act. Thirteen graduate from Grand Be.nd nursery Thirteen students of the Grand Bend nursery school graduated Friday while parents and friends looked on. Reeve Bob Sharen presented each gown and cap clad graduate with a certificate of graduation designed and made by the school's instructors, Donna Mitchell and Faye Blair. Following the presentation of certificates the students and parents were entertained by two movie films of the students both on the school grounds and at the Pineridg,e zoo. A draw for a set of brass scales and a lamp was held with pro- ceeds going to help the fin- ancial situation of the nursery school. Helen Elliot of Grand Bend won the lamp while Mrs. Walsh of Grand Cove Estates won the scales.
