A board of three mem- bers is being appointed which will be assisted by the organiz- ing comittee for one year. In his report as chairman of the division, Mission in Canada, Rev. Barry Robinson, Thames Road urged that the Presbytery and its congregations commit a part of the next year to the further study of the Charismatic movement. Presbytery con- curred and will devote an hour at its fall meeting to the subject. Charismatic renewal is a move- ment within Protestant and Ro- man Catholic Churches which has a more evangelical dimension. At the London Conference of the United Church in May some controversory developed over healing and speaking in tongues. Those involved in the movement suggest that these may be a part of the renewal but are by no means the important expressions. The Stewardship committee reported an increase in givings to missions of 12.45%. The Staffa charge with 50% of its objective and Listowel with 47% headed the report at the end of May. The Presbytery goal is $275,000. Presbytery granted permission to the trustees of Moncri,ef to sell its properties and agreed to the method of disposal of funds. Five ministers will be moving into the Presbytery. Rev. Earl St. Jean was inducted into the Auburn charge June 3 while Rev. Bruce Scott will be inducted into St. John's, Stratford June 29; Rev. Thomas Fleetham into Fordwich and Rev. John Wood into Victoria St., Goderich July 2; and Rev. Harry Stevens into Atwood June 29. Over 1,000 enjoy pork at Varna The third annual pork b -b -q at the Varna United Church last Thursday was an even bigger success than last year. Over 1,000 people were fed com- pared to last year's 850. Bernice Reid, church treasurer, doesn't have all the ticket money in yet but expects the church will clear around $1,200. The money will be used to "keep things rolling" in the church. A new furnace is also going into the church this year. The b -b -q was advertised as an "eat as much as you want" affair and many people went back for seconds on the homemade scalloped potatoes, homemade baked beans, letuce salad, pick- les, roils and homemade pies, not to mention the delicious pork chops. All the food was made and donated by the Varna United Church ladies. Listening to the compliments they received and seeing the amount of food con- sumed was proof that, as usual, they outdid themselves. 1 alimme OPEN DAILY Saturday 'Country Cobras' Green Forest Motor Hotel YOUR HOSTS "PETE" and "CAROLE" DEITZ HIGHWAY 21 — GRAND BEND , . v GRAND BEND WED., THURS., & FRI. - JUNE 23, 24, 25 ALICE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE Adult Entertainment Ellen Burstyn Color PRISONER OF 2ND AVENUE Adult Entertainment Jack Lemmon Color SATURDAY - MONDAY — JUNE 26, 27, 28 THE BLACK BIRD Adult Entertainment George Segal Color HARD TIMES Adult Entertainment Charles Bronson James Coburn Color BOX OFFICE OPEN AT 8 P.M.
