LADIES' AID

Mr. & Mrs. Albert Haugh,
London, spent a few days with
Mrs. Cora Gaiser last week.
Group 2 with co -conveners
Mrs. Rav Rader and Mrs. Charles
Martene were in charge of the
June meeting of Zion Lutheran
Ladies' Aid.
Fourteen members and two
visitors were present, one of
which joined the Aid. The Altar
Guild reported 20 visits, 11
treats and 1 phone call. The new
Guild is Mrs. Erna Schroeder
and. Mrs. Arnold Becker. The Aid
will be in charge of treats for the
Vacation Bible School.
A bakeless bake sale will be
held in July, New carpet for the
church entrance will be bought.
A donation was made to the
Leprosy Mission.
Mrs. Ray Rader and Mrs.
Charles Martene took for the
topic, "What Faith is". Various
phases of faith were discussed
with Bible reading to explain.
Mrs. Earl Keller had closing
Devotions. The group in charge
served lunch.
PERSONALS
Mr. & Mrs. Dick Wiens and
Andrea, Waterloo, spent a few
days with Mr. & Mrs. Albert
Miller last week,
Mr. & Mrs. Aaron Restemayer
and Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Wolfe
spent a week at Inverlocky.
The weather was perfect and
fishing good. Their catch totalled
28.
Mr. & Mrs. Spike Nagel,
Susan and Chris Baynham,
Oshawa, spent the weekend with
Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Koehler and
Mr. & Mrs. Bob Hayter and
family.
UCW MEETING
The Christian Citizenship and
Social action group with Mrs.
Eben Weigand chairlady was in
charge of the June meeting of
Calvary United Church UCW
meeting. Responsive reading
was followed by prayer by Mrs.
Mildred Kellerman. Mrs. Don
Weigand sang. "No Man is an
Island" accompanied by Mrs.
C. Kennedy.
Rev, H. Moore, Grand Bend,
showed. pictures of England and
Scotland that were most inter-
esting.
President, Mrs. Mervyn
Tiernan conducted the business,
Roll call was answered by 20
members. The Christian Wo-
men's Association will meet at
the Village Inn June 25 at 11:30
a.ni. The Sunshine committee
is Mrs. J.M. Tiernan and Mrs.
Greta Schade.
Mrs. Lorne Becker and Mrs.
Amiel Fischer are patients in
St. Joseph's hospital, London.
Mr. & Mrs. Ross Liebold,
Jeanette and John Paul, Strat-
ford, spent the weekend with
Lorne Becker and Wayne and
visited with Mrs. Becker.
TROUSSEAU TEA
Mrs, Jack Riddell held a
trousseau Saturday, June 12 in
honour of her daughter, Debbie's
approaching marriage. Sandra
Riddell was in charge of the guest
book. Receiving guests with
Debbie were her mother, Leone
Riddell. and the groom's mother
Grace Miller. Brenda Miller
and Brenda Riddell invited the
guests to see the gifts.
Displaying the gifts and trous-
seau were Judy Miller, Joanne
Miller, Debbie Love, Cathy
McVety, and Donna Riddell.
Susan Rader and Heather Riddell
showed the wedding gifts.
Mts. Lois Ford and Mrs.
Betty Riddell invited guests
to the tea room where Mrs,
. Alice Bryan, Mrs. Dorothy
Riddell, Mrs. Olive Rowe and
Mrs. Anna VanWyck poured
,tea. Assisting in the tea room
were Mrs. Joanne Swan, Miss
Barbara Ford and Mrs. Gingcr
Weber. Helpers in the kitchen
included Mrs. Florence Bryan,
Mrs. Lottie Jones. Mrs. Marg
Love and Mrs, Gwen Dyckman.
RADER REUNION
The 24th Rader reunion was
held Sunday, with 97 present.
Mr, and Mrs. Jeffery Haywood
and family, London, opened the
sports with a scramble for the
little ones.
Winners in the various races
were Karen Miller, Brenda
Rader, . Beth McGregor and
Wayne Weiberg, Several relays
were also enjoyed. Special prizes
were presented to Susan Weiberg
youngest person; Mrs. Adeline
Kraft, oldest person; Mrs. Hilda
Rader, listing most Raders;
walking contest, Mrs,. Idella
Schultz; birthday nearest,
Mrs. Helen Wagner, and Ruth
Wentzell.
President, Ray Rader presided
at the supper table. Mrs. Garnet
Weiberg and her committee were
in charge of the bountiful meal.
Officers appointed were
president, Ray Taylor; vice-
president, Bill Wagner; secre-
tary, Mrs. Hilda Rader; treasurer
Dave Rader; sports committee,
Ernie and Shiela Miller; table
convener, Mrs. Ray Rader.
The next picnic will be held
the second Sunday in June,
1978, at Dashwood community
centre with the secretary sending
out invitations.
Mrs. Helen Grieves, Mrs.
Ken McCrae, Mrs. Lette Taylor.
and Mrs. Ross Love attended
an Open House for Barbara
Filson, ilderton, Saturday after-
noon.

Slides of Mexico viewed
by Lutheran Church Women
Twenty three members and one
visitor were present for the
meeting Tuesday, June 8th.:
Mrs. Len Prang opened the
meeting with devotions, follow-
ed by a presentation of color
slides of their trip to California
and New Mexico.
Mrs. Harvey Hohner conducted
the business meeting. Subscript-
ions were received for the Luth-
eran Women's Magazine.

planned by
Catholic Women
The Catholic Women's League
of St. Boniface Council meeting
was held on June 8th with 30
members present. The presid-
ent Mrs. Jerome Sweeney wel-
comed the members and opened
the meeting with prayer in which
all participated. Sister Philathea
was then called on as guest
speaker and rendered a beautiful
and humorous narration which _
was much enjoyed by all.
Tickets for the quilt raffle to
be held on Bean Festival day
was the topic of discussion.
Mrs. Remi Denomme is to be
in charge of tickets. Anyone
wishing tickets may obtain them
at her hone.
Meeting was adjourned and
a lovely lunch was served , by
Mrs. Agnes Regier's committee.
Members were advised there
would be no meeting for the
month of July.

The report for the Biennial
Convention held at Waterloo in
May was given by Mrs. Jack
Turkheim assisted by Mrs.
Harvey Rohner.
The ladies decided to serve
refreshments to the children and
teachers at Vacation Church
School July 5 to 16.
Layettes were completed to
be packed with the bale blankets.
The next meeting is to be held
at Westlake's cottage in the form
of a picnic on July 7th.
At the conclusion of the meet-
ing a variety of home made
breads were served by the com-
mittee Mrs. Len Prang, Mrs.
Mae Davidson and Mrs. Frieda
Moore.
A reception for the newly
confirmed members and trans-
ferred members from other
churches was held at St. Peters
Lutheran Church immediately
following the morning service,
June 13. Group Three Lutheran
Church Women convened by
Mrs. Annie Finkbeiner served
Lunch to some 140 guests.
