The children entertained the ladies with several action songs. The UCW received a card of thanks for a gift from Mrs. Clarence Green who has moved to Exeter. The children and their mothers were served a picnic • lunch by the members. This will be the last meeting until September. PERSONALS Recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Lee, was their son & wife Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Lee of Lavonia, Michigan when they celebrated Ralph's birthday. VISIT ELMIRA geveral Grand Bend and area people went on a charter bus trip Eln&a Thursday, sponsored rby the"1 Ien's'ci b of the 'Chm I of God. Arriving there at 1~0 a.m. the people were shown films and commentary in Elmrira'Mennonite Church, about the Mennonite customs and ways of life. FoNlow- in.g this the church Ladies served a delicious hot dinner in the SS rooms. After dinner a tour of the farming area, with aguide pointing out places of interest. Many of these people farm with horse power and do not have hydro or telephone_ Stops of interest were the covered bridge at West Mont- rose. shopping in an old fashion- ed country store at the Farmer's market near Kitchener. Many lovely hand made items were for sale at the Men- nonite church, including fresh home baked bread. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baker who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home, Saturday, June 12. Another bridal shower was held Tuesday evening for popular bride elect Wendy VanBruaene, at the home of Mrs. Jini Pfaff, at Exeter, with co -hostess, Mrs. Eric Heywood. This shower included mostly relatives from grooms side of the family. LIVELONG RESIDENT DIES Funeral services were held Friday for Mrs. Ida (Webb) Turnbull, who passed ,away Wednesday June 9, at South Huron hospital, Exeter, in her 79th year. She is survived by her husband Max Turnbull, one daughter, Elva, Mrs. Lloyd Lamport, of Crediton, three sons, Jack of RR 1, Dashwood, Dr. Robert of Walkerton, and Fred of New Orleans, three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Stebbins, Grand Bend, Mrs. Wilmer McLinchey, Parkhill and Mrs. Ralph Williams, Port Huron, Michigan, two brothers, Stewart of Grand Bend, Milton of London also five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Elgin Hend- rick, Carl Turnbull, Ed Turnbull, Wayne Miller, Larry . Luther and Lloyd Fahner. Rev. Harley Moore officiates and iterment was at Grand Bend cemetery. The Grand Bend United Church Cemetery Decoration service will be held at the cemetery on Sunday, June 20, at 2:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather the service will be held in the United Church. The couples cs club b met Saturday evening at the United Church. with 14 hi attendance. This was a work meeting when they set out plants in the flower beds around the church, and the urns and they also helped Bill Love to plant four young trees in the outdoor church service area. Lunch hostesses were Elaine Moore, Elsie Keyes and Brenda Love. Mr. & Mrs. Louie Walker, of Pontiac, Michigan have been visiting this past week with their daughter & son-in-law, Rcv. and Mrs. John Campbell, Laura Lee & Douglas. Recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Art Finkbeiner were Mr. & Mrs. John Waters, of Parkhill and Mr. & Mrs. Norris Webb, of Woodham. Mrs. Marjorie Knight of London is visiting her sister & brother-in-law this week, Mr. & Mrs. Wellwood Gill.
