Mr. Webster. Grand Bend's second annual Buffaloburger Fest this weekend will be bigger and better than ever according to Tom Webster, one of the people in charge. Last year close to 1,000 lbs. of buffalo meat were consumed, this year the Chamber of Com- merce has ordered 1,300 to 1,500 lbs. of meat. The buffalo meat has not yet arrived in town so the figure is not yet exact. The tent on the beach and fenced in patio will be bigger than last year as well. This year's is 40 feet by 100 feet compared to last year's 90 feet by 30 feet. The tent will be open from noon to 11:30 Friday and Saturday with entertainment and dancing both days. A craft show, flea market, and rummage sale will take place on the main street in the vacant lot beside the Sun Shop. "The local response to the market idea has been aston- ishing. There are a lot of quality things from washing machines to clothes that are going to go at bargain prices." says Mr. Wester. "The era& show voill et. mostly local ,people, Ott .there ate some doming ireni ireas 'fa'r :as illarnilton and Toronto to distday their talents." . Terre V be nine pits of }.:coopetition this year with cash prizes as well as the usual cups and mugs. One entire horseshoe club is coming from Kitchener and members of 'local clubs are also entering. The competition will be semi- professional according to M. Webster, well worth seeing. Over 2000 prizes have been collected for the children's treasurer hunt on the beach Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for those 10 and under. Bottle caps will be hidden in the sand with the name of a prize in the top. The children take the cap to the people running the hunt and are given a card saying where the prize is. All the ' local merchants have been generous, prizes range from $25 offered by the Bank of Montreal to free Huron Country Playhouse tickets to ice cream cones. Those attending the Buffalo Fest are encouraged to park in lots along Highway 21 so the main street does not become too crowd- ed. Signs will direct drivers to lots at the Legion and public school as well as the Brewer's Retail lot. Free hayrides will transport any one who wants a ride up and down the main street. A conductor will be on each wagon to ensure no acci- dents happen as riders will be let off anywhere they want. Saturday morning the United Church is sponsoring a pancake breakfast, and for those who don't particularly care for buffalo meat, Sunday will feature beef- burgers by the Lions and Lion- ettes also on the beach. At 11 p.m. Saturday night, George Kadlecik, president of the Chamber of Commerce, will make the draw for an Olympic gold coin worth $100. The draw is free, no purchase required.
