HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1976-06-09, Page 12Page 12 -Citizens News, June 9, 1976 Tigers convincing in 12-7 win over, Chesley The Dashwood Tigers regained their winning ways in the Huron - Perth intermediate baseball league with a convincing 12-7 victory over Chesley at the Dashwood park Friday night. The Tigers were in Zurich last night, Tuesday to meet the ZurichMets and will be back at the Dashwood athletic field at 8 p.m. Friday night when the Clinton Colts will be supplying the opposition. The first three innings of Friday's contests were score - TROPHY STAYS IN FAMILY --Greg O'Brien received the trophy for the most improved goalie in the Zurich minor league at the Zurich Minor Hockey banquet last week. Chesley notched the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning and the Tigers bounced back with three runs in the bottom of the same inning. The visitors counted three times in the fifth but the Dash- wood club broke the game wide open with a seven run outburst in their half of the same frame. In the Dashwood fourth, Bob Hoffman and Dave Parsons singled and Jim Dietrich walked and all three came around to score on three consecutive walks. Two key extra base hits with the bases loaded provided the power for the seven Dashwood runs in the fifth. Short- stop John Hayter stepped to the plate and promptly blasted the ball over the fence for agrand slang home run. In the same inning Gary Hartnman's double sent Jim Guenther, Glenn Thurman and Jing Hoffman scurrying across the plate. Hartman was tossed taut trying to stretch his hit into a triple. The final two Tiger tallies came in the sixth. John Hayter icd off with a triple and scored one single from the bat of Brad Gregus who eventually scored on a similar hit delivered by Glenn Thurman after Bill Schade was hit by a pitch. Left Jini Guenther was the starting Dashwood pitcher. He was lifted with one out and Chesley threatening in the sixth. Veteran hurler , Bill •Schade took over and turned in a fine relief performance holding the op- position hitless for the remaining three and two-thirds innings. Bob 'Hoffman was the top Tiger at the plate with three singles to his credit.
