Sewers *may
be ready
by October
Hensall residents may be able
to connect to the sewer system
now being constructed as early
as October of this year according
to clerk Bob Heil at Monday's
regular meeting of council.
Heil continued, "If all goes
well connections could begin by
sometime in October and sewer
and frontage charges will be
then initiated in the early part
of 1977."
Charges for connections, fron-
tage and sewage service have
been worked out and they will
be computed on the frontages
shown on Hensall's tax bills.
The frontage rate will be 30
.cents per foot per annum for a
total of 40 years. On an average
66 foot lot this would amount to
519.80 each year for 40 years.
If a resident wishes to pay in
one lump sum the prepaid rate
will be $3.07 per foot or 5202.62
for a 66 foot lot.
The charges for connection will
be $32.20 per annum for 40 years
or $330 if paid in advance.
Clerk Bob Heil noted that if the
charges are prepaid as mentioned
above there will be no further
frontage or connection charges
A sewage service rate of 552.26
per annum will be levied on users
of the system and will be charged
where applicable as a 134 percent
surcharge on the annual water
rate.
At the same meeting two by-
laws were read to control the
discharge of sewage into the sani-
tary sewers system and to re:
gulate the use of public and
private sewage disposal, the in-
stallation and connection of build-
ing sewers and the discharge of
waters into the publiic sewer
system.
