Edge Zurich 8-5 Trounce Hanover crew
Dashwood Tigers post two straight wins
The first game of the season
in the Huron -Perth intermediate
baseball league provided exciting
action at the Dashwood park
Friday night as the Dashwood
Tigers edged the Zurich Mets 8-5,
The Dashwood club continued
their winning ways Sunday as
they travelled to Hanover and
picked up a 12-5 victory.
Both area clubs are now idle
until Sunday when they hit the
road. The Zurich Mets head for
Chesley and the Dashwood
Tigers will be off to Kincardine.
Both games start at 2 p.m.
In Dashwood Friday night,
the Mets were first on the score-
board with single runs in each
of the first and third innings.
In the opening frame. Zurich
playing manager Percy Bedard
was safe on an error, stole second
and came across the plate on a
single from . the bat of Gerard
Charrette.
The third inning counter for
the Mets again came across as
the result of a single by Gerard
Charrette scoring Rick Schilbe
ho went all the way to second
on a Dashwood miscue.
The Tigers evened the score
in the bottom of the fifth inning
ithout the aid of a bit. Glenn
Thurman walked, Gary Hartman
A as hit by a pitch and both scored

Dave Parsons and a fielder's
choice by Jim Dietrich,
The Dashwood dub took a
temporary lead in the sixth

on back-to-back singles by
Gary Hartman and Gary Gibson.
The Mets regained their two
run margin in the seventh when
Steve Bedour singled, went to
second on a w ild pitch and carte
home as Randy McKinnon was
safe on an error.
The bases became loaded as
Wayne • Meidingcr singled and
Rick Schilbe was safe on an
error. Percy Bedard was hit by
a pitch to force McKinnon home
with the second run of the sev-
enth. The Tigers roared right
back with a pair of runs to take
the lead which they were able
to hold to record the victory.
John Hayter opened the
seventh inning with a double and
promptly scored on a single
delivered by Brad Gregus who
eventually scored on Gary
Hartman's fielder's choice after
Bob Hoffman and Glen Thurman
drew walks.
Two more Dashwood runs
crossed the plate in the eighth.
Jim Dietrich and Dave Parsons
reached first by way of walks,
moved up on John Hayter's
sacrifice and cane home on a
sharp single by Brad Gregus.
The final Zurich marker came
in the top of the ninth when
Percy Bedard walked, moved to
second on Gerald Weido's
single and the bases became
loaded when Gerald Weido
walked. Bedard was able to
complete the circuit on a fielder's
choice by Jeff O'Brien.
The other Dashwood hits to
bring their total to eight were

He went the first four frames
giving up two runs and the sante

the opposition scoreless while
allowing two hits. Perry Stover
finished up allowing three runs
in the last three innings.
Pat Bedard was on the Zurich
mound to start the game and held
the Tigers scoreless over the
first four innings. Veteran
Dick Bedard took over in the
fifth and completed the game.
FOUR RUN RALLIES HELP
The Dashwood win in Hanover
Sunday was powered by four
run rallies in each of the sixth
and seventh innings.
They scored two runs in the
first inning with the key blows
being a Jinn Dietrich single and
a double from the bat of John
Hayter.
In the Dashwood fourth, Glenn
Thurman walked and scored on a
