Juniors race at
HuIIy Cully

entrants, it added considerable
enjoyment for the spectators.

At Varna
lant auction profitable
By Mrs. Bill Chessell
Over seventy dollars was
realized at a plant auction fol-
lowing the U.C.W. meeting on
Thursday evening. Mrs. Jack
Hunt was the auctioneer, assist-
ed by Mrs. David Roy, There was
an excellent attendance, and two
new members, Mrs. Keith
Stephenson and Mrs, Bob Rob-
erts, were received.
Mrs. Robt. Stirling opened the
meeting with a poem "Seeds of
Goodness". The worship ser-
vice was on the theme of flowers,
comparing their characteristics
with those of women. Scripture
was from Proverbs 31:10 to 31.
The committee which presented
the worship service consisted of
Mrs. Jack Hunt, Mrs. David
Roy, Mrs. Win. Taylor and Mrs.
Keith Stephenson. Mrs. Ralph
Stephenson read the minutes of
the Last meeting, and Mrs.
Mervyn Hayter gave the treas-
urer's report. The dessert
euchre and bake sale was a
great success. In the Cancer
Society canvass, done in this
area by U.C.W. members,
$213.00 was collected, Mrs. Tom
Consitt, the delegate to the
Flowers of Hope meeting at the
A.R.C. Workshop in Dashwood,
reported that $8,000.00 is needed
from the canvass this year for
the projects and services for
mentally retarded in this area.
All money collected is used
locally.
