Clearing up some misunder- standings of a week ago council agreed to consider a budget of $8,500. Added to this would be • possible grants of $1,000 from last year's operation and $2,700 currently in the bank credited to the rec group. The expenditure side of the budget shows $6,000 to operate the summer lifeguard program, $1,200 for secretary salary, $700 for rec committee and $1,200 to go to minor sports. Councillor Harold Green who is a member of the ree committee as a village representative said, "If the rec committee is supposed to raise money then you should appoint nine retired people to the committee, We just don't have that kind of time," Councillor Bill Baird, the other council appointee added, "It doesn't appear as if this com- mittee has the ambition to go out and raise funds.'' To this Green commented, "I sure am losing interest. it looks the same as last year with a few people doing all of the work. It's my personal opinion that we slr, ould disband the committee, Councillor Bob Simpson replied, "If we scrap the com- mittee we would save the $1,900 in salaries." Reeve Bob Sharen who sug- gested a week ago that the coniniittee should be trying to raise funds said Monday night, "The committee should just co-ordinate efforts to raise funds and assign responsibili- ties to each member."
