Happy Hoppers
(by Liz Groot)
Meeting eight of the "Happy
Hoopers" was opened at 7 p.m.
with the 4-H pledge. The roll
call was answered by showing
your free choice article and to
tell your favourite stitch. Some
answers were the backstitch,
twisted chain stitch and the
French knot. Our business was
to hand in our books next week.
Our discussion was How to Ev-
aluate an embroidered article.
Our home assignment was to
complete anything that wasn't
done. The meeting was adjourn-
ed at 8 p.m.

THE POPEYE MYTH
What made Popeye so strong?
Spinach, because it contains
so much iron, right? Wrong.
It's sad to report that the
effects must have been psycho-
logical because a recent study
from the University of Washing-
ton shows that spinach doesn't
have that much iron to offer.
Nutritionally spinach is still
pretty good stuff, but lettuce,
corn and even whole grain cereals
provide more of the kind of iron
the body can use.
Sorry to have to report, kids,
that liver is still the best source
of iron, but veal, if you can afford
it, is also good.
