Women's Institute
The April meeting of the Hen-
sall Women's Institute was held
in the Legion Hall onWednesday,
April 14 at 8 p.m. with presid-
ent Hilda Payne in the chair.
Roll call was answered by 24
people paying their dues for the
coming year.
A letter from the Historical
Society was read giving dates
of forthcoming meetings at
Londesboro on April 15 and at
Varna on May 19 and mentioning
that an historical contest will 4
be held at local fairs again
this year.
Jessie McAllister reported on
the South Huron District Board
Meeting held in Hensall on
April 6. The District Annual
will be held at Crediton on
May 20, registration at 9:30
a.m. and members to take a
pot -luck lunch and to be respons-
ible for courtesy remarks. In-
stitute Week is May 30 to June 4
when visits to the Erland Lee
Rhine are especially encouraged.
The Fall Rally will be at Dash-
wood on October 4, its twenty-
fifth year. Janice Bisback report-
ed that a planned bus trip will
probably be to the Niagara
district.

Susie Purdy read a poem,
"When the buds begin to bloom"
by George Mathew Adams and
Janice Bisback sang, "Breathe
on me, breath of God" accom-
panied by Joyce Pepper. The
meeting closed with "O,Canada"
and a tasty lunch was served
by hostesses Myrtle Sherritt
and Annie Reid and their commit-
tee.

& Toney of Mitchell.
Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren,
Jodi & Brooke of Oakville spent
the Easter weekend with Mrs.
Bertha MacGregor.
Rev. W.D. Jarvis conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Sunday. The sermon
subject was "Thine Be the
Glory". Miss Linda Bell accom-
panied the Junior Choir at the
organ and Mrs. Malcom Dougall
accompanied the Choir at the
organ in the Easter Anthems.
Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman
were visited by their family for
Easter Mrs. Joe DeLodee, Sarnia;
Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren &
family, Oakville; Mr. & Mrs.
Gerry Chapman & family, Miss-
isauga; Mr. & Mrs. Craig Chap-

attended the District Annual
meeting held in Goderich on
Wednesday.
Mrs. Albert Shirray has return-
ed from a visit to Florida which
included an interesting trip to
New Orleans.

parents, Mr. & Mrs. Harvey
Hyde for Easter.

Three Links euchre popular,
Easter services well attended
The Three Links, Senior Citi-
zens Club, met on Tuesday even-
ing, April 13 for an evening of
euchre. Eight tables were in
play. Winners were: ladies high,
Mrs. Elizabeth Riley; men's
high, Mr. Percy Campbell, ladies
low, Mrs. Inez McEwen; men's
low, Mr. Carl Payne; lone hands,
Mrs. Ruby Bell. Lunch was
enjoyed after the end of play.
Maundy Thursday Communion
Service was held at Hensall
United Church with Rev. Don
Beck in charge, and with Mrs.
John Turkheim at the organ.
The Meditation subject was
"He took a towel". This act
of Jesus signified the act of
slavery or complete committal
to the will of God in all that
was to come. The Communion
Service followed the message.
The Youth Group was in charge
of the Sunrise Service at the Hen-
sall United , Church who con-
ducted a very inspiring mess-
age to begin the day. Leader
for the service was Paul Waring,
a solo, "Lord of the Dance" was
sung by Gail Travers and Joan
Alexander gave an uplifting
meditation on love, the beginning
and end of our witness for Christ
and the foundation of His mess-
age on earth. John Blackwell
assisted at the organ.
Following the service, over
i 100 people gathered in the
Fellowship Hall for bacon and
egg breakfast, served by the
Youth group and helpters.
Easter Sunday Service at
Hensall United Church was con-
ducted by Rev. Don Beck. He
gave the final sermon of his
series, "What is a virtue? Faith"
Faith in the Resurrection is the
foundation for hope and love that
is the witness of a Christian.
Easter is a glorious, exciting
time. Mrs. John Turkheim and
the choir sang the anthem.
"Hallelujah! King of Kings".
The junior choir sang "Allelu"
with soloist Scott Jesney and
Brenda Pepper at the piano.
Next Sunday will be Agriculture
Sunday. A bowling party for
Unit 2 is being arranged for
Saturday evening --meet at the
church at 7:30 p.m. Shoes will
be available.
