Orpha club Aids bundle
The Orpha Club met Tuesday
evening at Mrs. Marty Burke's
home with 22 in attendance.
Mrs. Clarke Kennedy president,
presided for the business. It
was decided to send $10.00
to Bunny Bundle. Mrs. Rosie
Grigg donated two crib quilts, one
for Childrens Aid at Sarnia and
the other to be raffled at a pot
luck supper. Mrs. Lillian Brown,
STEADY STITCHERS
The 'Steady Stitchers,' 4-H
girls -met Monday evening at
Mrs. Allan Walper's home.
Eleven girls answered the roll
call by "Showing their design
ideas for a free choice article."
At this meeting they learned
two new stitches, the couching
cross stitch and couching outline
stitch.
Horne assignment is to com-
plete the new stitches on samples
and learning stitches article.
They are also to decide on their
free choice article and work on
dessign.
Next meeting at sane time at
Mrs. J. Smeekens home.
and Mrs. Maurine Walper have
made a single bed quilt to he sold
as a money making project.
The travelling prize donated
by Mrs. Fred Brown was. won
by Mrs. Ada Wilson. Plans were
discussed for the annual pot
luck dinner to be May 4 at Mrs.
W.F. L. MacLaren's.
Next meeting at Mrs. Lawrence
Curts on April 13. Lunch host-
esses were Mrs. Lloyd Ginn,
Mrs. Rosie Grigg and Mr's. Jim
Cutting.
PERSONALS
Communion was observed
in the United Church on Sunday
morning with RQv. H. Moore
continuing Lenten series service,
based on Chapter 13 of John,
verses 1-17, with meditation
on the Last Supper.
Mr.and Mrs. Bill Brenner and
family have returned home after
a 21/2 weeks holiday in. Fort
Lauderdale, Florida.
Mrs. Mary Broadfoot.of Kippen
visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Clarke Kennedy.
New Life Mission success
The New Life Mission, "April
Showers" held by parishes of
St. Paul's, Thedford, Grace
church Greenway, St. John's
Grand Bend, was a very success-
ful and inspirational weekend,
It was conducted by a 20 member
mission team from Windsor.
Beginning with a pot luck supper
at St. Paul's followed by singing,
prayers and discussion,
Saturday morning a men's
breakfast was at Grace church,
Greenway and the ladies held
coffee hours at private homes,
Eleanor Russell for Thedford,
Joyce Hodgins for Greenway,
Nola Taylor for Grand Bend.
The children's mission was
held Saturday at Green Forest
Inn, the teenage session at
St. John's with discussion and
film, "The Cross and the Switch-
blade."
Saturday evening a pot luck
supper at Grand Bend with
singing, films and discussion.
Ending Sunday with service
of Praise and Communion at
Grace church, Greenway, with
Rev. Dixon of Windsor, followed
with a coffee hour in Parish
hall.
CONFERENCE
Eleven people from the
Church of God attended a Christ-
ian Education Conference Friday
evening and Saturday at Welland,
with speaker Sherrill Haves
of Indiana, on 'recruiting and
motivating leaders.
A special celebration service
in honor of Rev. and Mrs. John
Campbell and family, first year
in Grand Bend with the congrega-
tion participating in a talent
program with music and singing,
After the service .a Fellowship
hour was enjoyed in the S.S:
rooms with coffee and - refresh -
me nts.
