The Cultural Activities and
grandmothers meeting of Kippen
East W.I. was held in the Legion
Hall with Mrs. Al Hoggarth as
hostess and Mrs. Harold Parsons
co -hostess. The president Mrs.
R. Kinsman welcomed the grand-
mothers and members and gave
several readings "Little Girls"
and "By Gone Days", The roll
call, "Pick a topic from the paper
that made you mad and talk about
it," brought forth many com-
ments including misspelled words
and wrong reports.
Miss Lucy Van Esbroeck, a
recent winner of the Zone and
District Legion Speaking contest
gave her talk on Discrimination
of Kids Rights in Elementary
Schools. It was a most interesting
and well delivered speech and
Lucy deserves credit for being a
"winner". Mrs. R. Bell, gave a
reading, "What is a Grand-
mother" and Mrs. Grace Drum-
mond gave a humourous mono-
logue, "Bargain Days". The
Finlayson Sisters entertained
with several step dance numbers
and were presented with a gift.
Members learned the art -of tatt-
ing under the supervision of Mrs.
Wm. J. Caldwell and Mrs. R.
Bell.
The Branch Directors will form
a nominating committee. Mrs.
Al Hoggarth's side was the
winner of the roll call contest.
Mrs. H. Caldwell, leader of the
losing side, stated that a Pot
Luck Dinner will be held at 6:30
preceding the annual meeting
April 21. Mrs. G. Drummond
presented. a gift to Jill McLellan,
a recent Provincial Honour win-
ner and also to the leaders of
the club, "Baking Bread".
Gifts were presented to Rena
Caldwell and Grace Sararas for
lucky chair, Mrs. E. Kinsman -
grandmother with the most
grandchildren, Mrs. Wm, Cald-
well for the birthday nearest the
meeting and for the most buttons,
Mary Broadfoot for the shortest
grandmother, Ruby Triebner for
the most grandchildren, Ruby
Finlayson won the doily donated
by Mrs. Caldwell and Mrs. Bell,
Mrs. Triebner gave courtesy
remarks and acted as auctioneer
for the yard sale which was,lots
of ' fun and quite profitable
Mrs. Vern Alderdice chaired the
program and lunch was served
by Mrs. J. Sinclair and Mrs: S.
Pepper.
Mr. & Mrs. T,W. Rend attend-
ed the wedding of their youngest
daughter Heather to Mr. Howard
Stephen Elson of. Toronto. The
ceremony took place in the Chap^
el of Old Mill, Toronto on: Satur-
day evening, March 27 at 7 P.M.
Mr. & Mrs. Jack Deitz and
Nancy have returned from a
pleasant trip to San Francisco.
Mrs. Flora Dowson, mother of
Mrs. Wayne McBride, was
hospitalized when she met with
an accident at the railway cross-
ing, Kippen, when her car collid-
ed with the train.

THAT DID IT - After leading through most of their hockey game against Little Britain on Sunday, the
Zurich Peewees saw their lead disappear in the dying minutes of the game, and with a little over a.minute
remaining Ray Meek (9) flipped the puck over Zurich goalie Bobby Hay to win the game and the series.
