convention delegates
Huron -Middlesex Liberals net
at the Hay Township Hall in Zur-
ich on Thursday night to .name
delegates for the upcoming
annual meeting to be held in
Toronto later this month. Guest
speaker for the event was MPP
Jack Riddell.
Ian McAllister, of Zurich,
association president, conducted
the balloting assisted by A.Y.
MacLean of Seaforth and Jack
Horan of McKillop Township.
Named delegates from the
provincial association were Mrs.
Jean Adams of Goderich, Wilson
Hodgins of Lucan, Dave McClure
of Centralia, Howard Aitken of
Goderich, . Bruce Williams of
Clinton and Don Kav of Clinton.
Provincial alternates are Bern-
ard. Behn of Lucan. Don Worthy
• of Goderich, J.K. Cornish of
Brucefield. Chris Beck of Hensall,
Sheila Morton of Seaforth and
Larry Hotson of Lucan.
National association delegates
named were Eileen Palmer of
Goderich, Bill Kiel of Wingham,
Trudy Holmes of Wingham,
Shirley Kay of Clinton, • Gordon
Smythe of Clinton and Larry
Murray of Seaforth.
Alternates for the national
association in Huron -Middle-
sex are John Jewitt of Clinton,
Arnold Stinison of Seaforth,
Ozzie Zivkovic of Exeter, William
Routley of Exeter, Al Nicholson
of Seaforth and Cliff Dunbar of
Blyth,
Numerous other members of
the Huron -Middlesex Liberal

gates at the convention by virt-

lose in ti bid
The Zurich Lions Peewees
lost out in their bid to capture
the alI-Ontario Peewee 'D'
championship over the past week-
end when they dropped games
three and four to 'Little Britain
at the local arena. Saturday night
they fell on the short end of an
8-6 score, and then on Sunday
afternoon they lost a heartbreak-
er, 6-5, after leading throughout
most of the game.

Little Britain held the edge in
this game but Zurich came from
behind twice to tie the score,
never giving up. In the first
frame Drinkwalter slammed
in two goals, while Jim Willert
flipped one in, assisted by David

In the second period, Robert
Willert scored on a lone effort
to tie the score, but Drinkwalter
and Meek added two more to
give them a 4-2 'lead. 'Zurich
came right back and before the
period ended, it was a 4-4 tie
with Kris Bedard scoring from
Brian Horner and Robert Willert
and Chris Denomme getting the
other from Jim Willert and David
Erb.
The third period, however,
gave Little Britain the game with
four big ones to only two by
Zurich. This gave Drinkwalter
a total of six goals. Zurich's
goals came from the sticks of
Pat Cyr and Robert Willert.

Zurich kept on top of Little
Britain until the last period,
when they failed to stop Drink-
walter, as he played both defence
and forward. •
In the.first .period, Robert
Willert scred from Brian Horner,
but before- the period ended,
Drinkwalter blasted one by Bob
Hay, who played superbly in
the entire series.
In the second frame, Robert
Willert notched two more goals,
aided by David Smith and Chris
Denomme on the first and Pat
Cyr on the second. Then Kris
Bedard added another from Jim
Willert and Pat Cyr. Little
Britain scored from Jenkins right
away, but Zurich had a 4-2
lead at the end of the period.
The third period was the heart-
breaker for Zurich, when Drink-
walter came up with three more
hot goals and Meek added anoth-
er. Zurich 's lone goal of the
period came from Kris Bedard,
aided by Chris Denomme and
David Smith.
