London. Mrs. Garnet Allan returned to her home after spending, several days with .her son-in-law and daughter Mr. & Mrs. Ron Mc- Bride and infant son Michael. Ronald in Goderich, Mr. & Mrs. ,Grant Gowanlock of Lambeth spent Saturday with the latter's parents Mr. & Mrs. Joe Ferguson and attended the funeral of the late Mr. William Parsons. Mr. & Mrs. Alf Ross returned home after a pleasant holiday in Florida. Mr. & Mrs. Howard Ferguson of Thamesford visited on Satur- day with the former's parents and attended the funeral of the late Mr. William Parsons. Rev. W.D. Jarvis conducted the service in Carmel Presbyter- ian Church on Sunday. The sermon subject was "Forgive as we forgive". The Anniversary service will be held on Sunday, May 16th when Rev. Ken Innes of Brussels will he the guest speaker. The next Couple's Club will meet on April 28th in Carmel Church, Hensall. Amber Lodge Presents - Initiation Degree • . The officers and members of Amber Rebekah Lodge 71349 presented the initation Degree in the lodge hall •on Wednesday evening when Mrs. Isabel Roger- son was received into member- ship. Brother Ernie. Chipchase Past District Deputy Grand Master, Grand Marshall of Grand Encampment and Captain Canton Watford #2 brought greeting on behalf of his rank. Mrs. Percy Campbell, Pride of Huron Lodge Exeter also spoke briefly congrat- ulating the degree team. A social hour was enjoyed by all. Payne Unit 4 of Hensall U.C.W, met Thursday afternoon with Mrs. James McAllister presiding. She opened the meeting by reading a few lines concerning Lent. Twenty-two members answered the roll call. Mrs. L. Purdy gave the devotional based on the bibli- cal story of Easter and Mrs. Laird Mickle played two piano num- bers, "Bless this House" and "How Great •Thou Art". The topic was taken by Mrs. . R. Peck who spoke on Tanzania, • emphasizing the progress the country has made since becom- ing independent. Mrs. T. Sherritt gave the financial report and Mrs. Harry Caldwell reminded us of the Bar -B -Q supper on May 26 and the Church Choir Cantata on April 12. The meeting ended with the singing of, 'Rejoice the Lord is King" followed by prayer. Lunch was served by o Bunny Bundle ity. However. this was not the case, ane, the amount raised (over 5800) is being donated to the Bunny Bundle for Crippled Children. We are sorry for the error and at the sank time congratul- ate the Hensall MAA for support- ing such a worthwhile cause as the Bunny Bundle. Mrs. Inez McEwen and her committee. The service at Hensall United Church for Passion Sunday was conducted by Rev. Don Beck with Mrs, John Turkheim at the organ, The choir sang the anthem, "Praise the Lord, Ye Heavens,. Adore Him" and the sermon was #5 in the series, "What is a virtue?" Hope. Hope is the Christian's privilege as it is linked to trust, faith and truth. On Monday, April 12 the choir will present the Easter Cantata, "No Greater Love" in the Church. Visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Gord- on Schwalm, Mrs. Elizabeth Voiland and Mrs. Daisy Ivey last week were Mrs, Mary Funk of Liindon, Mrs. Prisella Hewett of Exeter, Mr. & Mrs. Donald (oghlin, Debbie and Paul of Fordwich, Mrs. Isabelle MacDon- ald of Goderich, Mrs. Murray Finlayson of Exeter, Mrs. Vera ,lohnston and Mr. Jack Johnston of Bruccfield, Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Taylor of Varna, Hensall visitors were Mrs. Irene Finlayson, Mrs. Bona Clark and Mrs. Gene- vieve Windover, Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Schwalm were married 32 years on Tuesday. Meeting 5 of Hensall 1 and 2 Clubs was held at the Hensall United Church on Tuesday even- ing. Achievement Day pamplets were distributed and discussed. An historical outline of embroid- ery was discussed and answer sheets filled in. Colour designs were reviewed for the free choice article. The Leaders demonstrat- ed the satin stitch; the sheath filling stitch and also told how to make a twisted cord. Work to be completed at home.
