W.A. Young & Mrs.. Young of Elora and Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Campbell & family of l Guelph attended the funeral of. the late Mrs. R.Y. MacLaren and were guests with Mrs. F.G. Bonthron. Mr, Earl McEwen of Guelph attended the funeral of the late Mrs. R.Y. MacLaren and visited with Mr. & Mrs. Hugh McEwen. Mr. & Mrs. Archie Noakes returned hone after spending the winter months in Panama City and California, Hensall Figure Skating Results The Hensall Club completed another successful year for girls and boys figure and power skating. This is a :'non—spons- ored" club by Miss Pauline Bell. Those who were successful in passing, National Badges are as follows: Elementary, Ronalynn Bell, Dwayne Lawrence, Basic, Kim Ingram. Power - Boys, Brian Cooper, Darren Fab- er, Jerry Faber. Power -Boys 5, Scott Ingram. Power -Boys 7, Ian Munroe. Rev. Harold McKillop Speaks at Carmel Church Rev. W.D. Jarvis conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian church on Sunday. Rev. Harold McKillop, a representative of the Alcohol and Drug Concerns addressed the congregation with a most informative message. The flowers in the church were in memory of the late Mrs. Elizabeth MacLaren. Hensall Sales Barn Supply consisted mainly of heifers and steers, demand was fair, prices were steady. Citizens News, March 31/76 - Page 3 Senior citizens organize By Hilda M. Payne The Senior Citizens of Hensall met at the I.O.D.E. Hall last Wednesday evenin& for their organizational meeting and to play euchre. Seven tables played. Winners were: ladies high, Mrs. Jo Carter, Exeter; ladies low, Mrs. Grace Peck; men's high, Mr. Clarence Volland; men's ,ow, Mr. Carl Payne; lone hands, Mrs. Pearl Taylor. Mr. Perce Campbell chaired the business meeting and report- ed that due to an L.I.P. grant the hall had been beautifully rt.iecorated. Fresh panelling is on the walls, tables have been refinished and a cushioned bench built all along the east wall, serving dual purpose of provid- ing seating and giving storage space for craft materials, etc. The decision to form a Senior Citizens Club was unanimous and Mr, Charles Hay then conducted nominations as follows: Presid- ent, Mr. Perce Campbell; lst Vice -President, Mrs. Rose Har- ris; 2nd Vice -President, Mrs. Irene Finlayson; Secretary, Mrs. Grace Peck; Treasurer, Mrs. Isabel Rogerson. Other members of the executive named were: Mrs. Emma Campbell, Mrs. Dorothy Mickle, Mr. Glen Bell, Mrs. Pearl Taylor, Mr. Clarence Volland. Membership is to be $1.00 annually. Thirty members joined that evening. United Church Services The United Church Service was conducted by Rev. Don Beck with Mrs. John Turkheim at the organ. The choir range Psalm 150 to Henry Purcell's Trumpet Tune and the series of Lent Sermons on "What is a Virtue?" (4) Courage was continued, based on the quotation, "Courage is fear that has said its prayer," Courage is based on Trust and Faith. Unit 4 will meet on Thursday, April 1 at 2:30 p.m. and the general meeting of the U.C.W. will be on Monday, April 5. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobal visited with Mr. Anthony Gelderland of Ridgetown last week. Mrs. Anth- ony Van Dyke of Trois Riviere, P.Q. has been visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobal and while in Hensall she visited with relatives and friends in Woodstock, Goder- ich, London and will now be stay- ing in Chatham until Easter. Sporadic hydro breakdowns were experienced in the area during the high winds on Satur- day. Visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Gord- on Schwalm, Mrs. Daisy Ivey and Mrs. Elizabeth Volland were Mr. Reg.
