EGG SCANDAL
Mr. Mickle feels a little embar-
rassed about the egg scandals
in the past few years. The first
was the "rotten egg" scandal
as a result of the CEMA board
trying to get going with an open
border before production was
geared to consumption, in Mr.
Mickle's opinion. He said pro-
ducers paid dearly for the mistake
as their levies went up conside-
rably to pay their portion of
indebtedness.
The- second scandal CEMA
has survivied reared its head
last November when several
directors were charged with being
over quota, as a result Mr. Mickle
said all directors were investiga-
ted. Three were dismissed as
in violation by the Farm Products
Marketing Council.
As a result, eight board
members -«erclreappointed. down
from the eleven man board.
The Ontario Egg Producers
Marketing Board will
remain with eight members
until new legislation is passed.
THE FUTURE
The future of eggs is bright
according to Mr. Mickle. He for -
sees a steadier price for eggs
with better informed consumers.
