School tour ns
for C layhouse
James Murphy, Huron Country
Playhouse Artistic Director,
today uncovered plans for the
second annual School Tour.
The tour will take the Playhouse
Young Players throughout South-
western Ontario as far as Windsor
and Tornbermory. Schools in
Middlesex, Bruce, Grey, Well-
ington, Lambton, Elgin, Perth,
Huron, Kent, Waterloo and
Oxford will receive the company
of five actors, under the direction
of Mr. Murphy.
Toronto's Jim Saar, recipient
of the Ontario Arts Council
Playwright's grant, wrote both
plays. Fantasy, for grades
kindergarten through four, is
a tale based on the delightful
works of Lewis Carroll, and is
a dramatization of Alice's
adventures in Wonderland, and
through the Looking Glass.
C'i.cus! for the senior elle-
meniary grades (5-8), depicts
the excitement and glamour of
circus life, and attempts to
trace the history of the circus
in Canada. Both productions
will incorporate a great deal of
magic, mime, dance, music, and
student audience participation.
Mr. Murphy is presently
auditioning actors for the com-
pany. He is searching for profes-
sional actors who have experience
in children's theatre and the ver-
satility for circus feats. The actors
will be in residence at the Play-
house in Grand Bend, and will
commute to daily engagements.
Highlights of the tour will
include special performances
in Sarnia for the Children's
Ward Auxiliary of Sarnia General
Hospital, with an expected
attendance of 1500 people, and
two performances for the Theatre
Ontario Festival, May 29, in
London. The Playhouse Young
Players tour begins April 1.
