weekend coming
One of the most popular
events in the south part of
Huron County each winter is
scheduled for the weekend of
February 13, 14 and 15.
It's the annual Crippled Kids
weekend at the Pineridge
Chalet near Hensall when enter-
tainment is available for all ages.
Organizers George and
Lucille Beer and Don and
Shirley Mousseau have again
lined up a busy weekend design-
ed to satisfy the indoor and out
door recreation wants of all ages.
Activities start Friday night,
February 13 with a dance to
the music of the popular Joe
Overholt and the Standbys.
Saturday afternoon events will
include snowmobiling, a poker
run, free snowmobile rides and
inside Chalet entertainment
featuring "You and Me".
Dancing will again be provided
in the evening by Joe Overholt.
Sunday's activities start at
8 a.m. with the popular pancake
and sausage breakfast. Again
heading the pancake cooking and
flipping chores will be CFPL
radio host Bill Brady and his
bunch.
Ralph Duffus. president of
the London Crippled Children's
Treatment Centre is expected
to add his expertise to the kit-
chen along with a number of
local cooks.
In the afternoon there will be
snowmobile races, team and
sleigh rides for children in the
outdoors.
Heading the entertainment in
the much expanded Chalet club
house will be Joe Overholt.
recording star Honey West,
"The Little People" back by
popular request and step danc-
ers and fiddfers.
A number of crippled kids are
expected to be special guests of
honour along with the 1976
Timmy. This year Timmy is
13 year-old Mike Gander of
London.

Hope to add attractions
Directors of the 1lensa11
South Huron Agricultural
Society at their annual meeting
Monday contemplated some new
ideas in renewing enthusiasm
and more revenue in the Hensall
Spring Fair.
President Bill Coleman told
the directors, "It's no secret
that all fair boards are in need
of additional monies."
The directors are giving
serious consideration to holding
a fair dance for the first time.
It would be probably staged in
July at the Hensall arena. The
Spring Fair is set for June 22.
Secretary Gladys McGregor
told the News. "We hope to
add 4-H club calf clubs to the
fair by providing an afternoon
showing,"
Mrs. McGregor continued.
"There are a lot of 4-H calves in
South Huron. Why not have
them part icipale here,"
The feeder calf club showing.
judging and sale is currently
one of tile highlights of the
evening portion of the fair.
Officials hope to have more
calves in the feeder club coFn-
petilion this year than in 1975.
President Coleman said, "the
figure could be as high as 73."
it is expected that Huron MP
Bob McKinley will officially
open the fair with Tory Gregg
master of ceremonies for the
horse show. Also included in
the list of events will be the ever
popular baby show.
The fair executive includes
vice-presidents Jack Kinsman
and Bruce Rathwell in addition
to president Bill Coleman and
secretary Gladys McGregor.
During Monday's meeting,
Hay township director John
Soldan presented an Agri-
cultural' Service diploma to Hay
township director .and a past
president John 'Corbett for more
than 20 years of service
