Attendance was down at the
January meeting of the United
Church Women because of the
cold, blustery weather. Mrs.
Robert Stirling opened the meet-
ing with a reading "A New
Year's Wish," and led the group
in the worship service. Mrs. Ida
McClinchey read a thought-
provoking New Year's article
titled "Give Me Tomorrow,"
which was written by Dr. Norman
Vincent Peale. The study book
on Mission Hospitals and a prof-
ile of Dr. Donald Watt, Super-
intendent of Hospitals and Med-
ical Missions for the United

Church, was presented by Mr.
William Chessell.
Mrs. Stirling presided for the
business. A donation was made
to the John , Milton Society
to assist them in their work with
the blind, and members were
asked to bring clothing, towels
and bedding to the next meeting
for the Mission Services in Lond-
on.
The Huron -Perth Presbytery
meeting will be held in Bruce -
field Church on Tuesday, Feb-
ruary 3 from 9:30 to 3:30. Please
note - this date has been changed
from February 4 to February 3.

on Saturday evening for Louis
Taylor, whose birthday was on
Thursday.
The L.O.L 1035 heldtheir
annual meeting on December 2
at the hall, preceded by a dinner
at Hully Gully. Those holding

Activities of the past year
have been the winter euchre
Lodges hold
euchre party
The Cancer, Polio and Tuber-
closis Committee of the IOOF
and Rebekah Lodges held a
successful euchre party in the;
lodge rooms Thursday evening
in spite of the stormy weather.
Ten tables played and the prize
winners were: ladies' high,
Mrs. Percy Campbell; ladies'
consolation, Mrs. James Mc-
Allister. Gent's high, Al Hog-
garth; gent's consolation, James
McEwen. Lone hands, Harold
Parsons.
parties which provide much of
the money needed for other
projects; operation of the skating
rink for family skating, recreat-
ional hockey and skating parties;
donation of bleachers and a
screen to the Stanley Township
ball park, levelling of the ball
diamond and seeding of grass;
painting the arena, donations
of money to the Richmond
Hill Orphanage and to the Bay-
field Lions Club whose bus prov-
ided transportation for children
from Varna to Vanastra for swim-
ming lessons last summer;
and a donation to the Senior
Citizens' Christmas Party.
A float was entered in. the 12th
of July parade in Clinton and
there were four bowling parties
for members during the wint-
er.
One new member was receiv-
ed by transfer in 1975 and three
members received the Arch Deg-
ree. At present they are prep-
aring the ice surface in the
arena, and skating should start
some time this week.
