On Sunday evening the Zurich
Flyers came up with a 7-4 vict-
ory over the Arkona Provis. The
Flyers played a terrific game
along with superb goaltending by
Zurich goaltender Jim Wild-
fong.
Derek 0' Brien opened the
scoring at the .33 second mark
assisted by Ron Corriveau and
Sid Ramer. The Provis tied the
game at 5.18 of the period on
a goal by Ted McHale with the
lone assist being credited to
Dave Hayter.
Only 50 seconds later the
Arkona crew jumped into a 2-1
lead as Don Hodgins blinked the
light with assists going to Doug
Caper and Sid Shuttleworth.
At 7.57 Derek 0' Brien evened
the game for Zurich as he drifted
a shot past Arkona goaltender
Wayne Clemens. Before the per-
iod ended Ron Rader put the
Flyers ahead 3-2 at 19.49 on the
power play with assists from Ron
Corriveau and Derek O'Brien.
Arkona. tied the game at 1,22
of the second period on a goal by
Bill Frazier from Jim Laird and
Ted McHale. The Provis went
ahead 4-3 at 6.03 as McHale
blasted a shot past Wildfong,
assisted by Bill -Frazier and Lee
Passmore.
At 13.10 of the stanza, Ron
Rader scored another power
play goal to tie the game once
again. Assists were credited to
Kevin McKinnon and Richard
Peewees
On Tuesday night, Zurich
downed Hensall 6-0. David Erb
started the scoring with Jim
Willert assisting in the first
frame. Brian Horner flashed the
light with David Smith assisting.
Robert Willert banged in two
quick goals to make it 4-0.
Brian Horner and David Smith
assisted on the first while Pat
Cyr helped with the second.
There was no scoring in the
second period but Willert scored
in the final period, assisted by
Chris Denomme and David Erb.
The final goal of the game was
scored by Kris Bedard assisted by
Gordon Love and James Adkins.
ZURICH 13 HENSALL 1,
On Wednesday night, Zurich
trounced Hensall 13-1 with Jim
Willert leading the scoring with
five big goals.
Kris Bedard notched a pair and
had four assists while Robert
Willert had three goals and two
assists. Mark Kirk, John McAl-
lister and David Smith each had
a goal and an assist while Pat
Cyr assisted on three goals.
Atoms lose
to Bayfield
The Zurich atoms dropped
two games in Western Ontario
Athletic Association minor play
this week.
The Zurich youngsters were
edged 6-5 by Bayfield after
holding a late one goal margin
and they were on the short end of
a 4-3 score to Hensall.
All the Bayfield scoring was
taken care of by a super six goal
performance by captain Darin
Telford.
Dean Armstrong was best for
Zurich with a hat trick effort.
Scoring in single fashion were
Paul Overholt and Paul Johnston.
Providing assists were Mike
Bedard and Rick Kuepfer.
A late second! period goal by
Scott Jesney enabled Hensall
to score the close 4-3 victory over
Zurich.
Captain Ron Lavery was the top
scorer for the winners with a two
goal effort. He also added an
assist.
The other Hensall marker
carne from the stick of Danny
Reid on a pass from Brian Ste-
wart. Also getting a Hensall
assist was Scott Ingram.
Paul Johnston was best for
Zurich with a two goal effort.
Adding the odd goal was Dean
Armstrong. Picking up an assist
tin- the losers was Paul Overholt.
Schilbe. Before the period ended
at 17.12, the Flyer power play
was again successful as Pat Bed-
ard put his team, ahead with help
from Richard Schilbe and Ron
Desjardine.
In the third period Kevin
McKinnon scored twice; at
15.58 and again at 20,00 to give
his team the 7-4 win. Derek
0' Brien was credited with an
assist on the first McKinnon
goal.
Zurich picked up all three stars,
Jim Wildfong received first
place honours, followed sby Ron
Rader and Derek 0' Brien.
Each team picked up eight
minor penalties handed out by
referees Singleton and Camp-
bell.
Next Zurich home game prom-
ises to be a good one as the arch -
rivals Shipka Colonials come to
town Sunday at 2 p.m. to meet
the Flyers.

Flyers go On scoring rampage
The Zurich Flyers went on a
scoring rampage Monday night
as they downed the Huron Park
Plugs 14-3 in South Huron
intermediate hockey
The Flyers scored five goals in
each of the first and second
periods before the Huron Park
club hit the scoreboard
Glen Overholt fired two suc-
cessful shots in the first 20
minutes of play to start his club
off on the right foot. Scoring
singles were Ron Desjardine,
Rick Schilbe and Kevin McKin-
non.
In the second period Ron Rader
as a two goal scorer for Zurich
while Overholt, Pat Bedard and
captain Ron Corriveau notched
single markers.
The first two Huron Park goals
carne on identical plays with
captain Bob Parsons pulling the
trigger and Rick Funston provid-
ing the assist.
The third frame saw Ron Rader
pick up his third goal of the night
to complete a hat trick. Scoring
one goal each were Kevin
