ARC plans to open
Dashwood bakeshop
Something different in the
occupational training for lear-
ning handicapped adults has
opened its doors at ARC
Industries in Dashwood this
week.
Through the financial
support of the Alhambra Lodge of
Grand Bend and the per-
severance of ARC Industries
manager Ron Heimrich and
baker Dan Knight, a bakeshop
located at ARC started
production of pastries on Mon-
day.
Knight who was head baker at
the Children's Psychiatric
Research Institute in London for
12 years followed by a three year
stint at the Tasty Nu bakery in
Zurich, approached the Dash-
wood company about the possible
establishment of a bakeshop on
the premises this past summer
after a visit to have some signs
made up.
The intent of the bakeshop is to
train several of the ARC
Industries employees in
bakeshop technology with the
hope that they can be placed
eventually in bakeshops around
the district.
Knight noted that a similar
program at CPRI involving the
training of patients in the
operation of large commercial
dish washing machines was an
`overwhelming success.'
The ARC bakeshop will in
