Bantams flying high
In their first five starts of the
season, the Zurich bantams have
a perfect record of five wins and
no defeats.
Exhibition play between Zurich
and Dublin saw Zurich defeat the
Irishmen 5-2 with Chris
Denomme and Robert Willert
Flyers drubed
by Parkhill six
In their only start of the week,
the Zurich Flyers lost to Parkhill
Sunday evening, 10-3.
The Flyers were never really in
the game as the Parkhill squad
amassed a five goal lead before
Kim M scored with less
McKinnon
than three minutes elapsed in the
second period. Glen Overholt
picked up the assist.
Parkhill then scored two goals
with Kim McKinnon scoring his
on goal ofevening d g athe eve g to
make it 7-2 for the home team.
Aiming for a comeback the
Flyers scored the first two goals
of the third period with Steve
Bedour and Randy McKinnon
leading the way with two goals.
Pete Postill and Kim McKinnon
assisted.
Parkhill killed any thoughts of
a Zurich win with three straight
goals in the final stanza.
Kim McKinnon of the Flyers
and Ernie Schegel of Parkhill
were named the two stars of the
game.
The Flyers take on CCAT
tonight.

In the first scheduled WOAA
group play, the bantams defeated
Dublin again, but only by the
narrow margin of 5-4. Jim Willert
netted three goals while singles
went to Mark Kirk and Robert
Willert. Assisting on the goals
were Robert Willert, David
Smith, Denomme, Erb and Brian
Horner,
Last Monday Zurich travelled
to Monkton to drub Elma-Logan
by a score of -17-0. Four goals
apiece were tallied by Guy Dietz
and Robert Willert with Graham

Cyr and Guy Wilde each scored a
pair and singles were added Jim
Willert and Bedard.
The bantams continued their
streak with a convincing 9-4
victory over Blyth
one week ago.
Robert Willert continued his
torrid scoring streak popping in
another four goals. Wilde banged
a couple of goals past the Blyth
goalie with single goals being
credited to Jim Willert, Bedard
and Dietz.
In a penalty ridden game on
Sunday, Zurich came up with an
Midgets capture
one-sided game
The Hensall-Zurich Midgets
handled the Alma -Logan squad
easily, with an 8-1 victory last
Tuesday.
Kerry Bedard started the
scoring for the home team with a
goal at the 1:12 mark of the first
period. Steve Grainger and Grant
Love assisted.
Eight minutes later, Carl Wilde
scored to give the H -Z squad a 2-0
lead with Rob Pryde and Bryan
Baker assisting.
In the second, Alma -Logan
scored two goals with a score in
between by Bedard of Hensall-
Zurich. Grainger and Love added
the assists.
H -Z dominated the third period
with five straight goals scored.
Wilds scored at the 1:43 mark
with Brad McBride and Greg
Kirk aiding the effort.
The local midget club then
went on a scoring rampage with
three goals in less than three
minutes. Grainger, Mike Haggit
and Dave Vanstone put the game
out of reach, with Love, Bob
Mommersteeg and Kevin Parker
assisting.

On a two way passing play late in
the first period, Robert Willert
scored with Wilde and Bedard
assisting. Zurich dominated the
second period with two goals by
Robert Willert and one by Wilde.
In the final period Wilde scored
two goals, one on a lone effort
with Horner assisting on the
other.
