T -A photo Swamp Huron Park Flyers find winning formula A revitalized Zurich Flyers squad found the winning touch twice in two games as they defeated Thedford in a squeaker 6-5 and demolished the Huron Park Marauders 11-2. Thursday's game in Thedford was a neck and neck battle with the Flyers scoring the winning goal with only 12 seconds remaining in the game. Ron Desjardine started the scoring off for the Flyers midway through the first period with a goal at 9:22 with Doug Turkheim assisting. Thedford then came back with two straight goals. Randy McKinnon knotted the score with an unassisted goal with a little over six minutes remaining in the second period. FAMILY ICE SKATING EVERY SAT. EVENING 8:30 P.M. - 10 P.M. Ron Rader, Pete Postill, Pat Bedard and Desjardine picked up the assists. Three goals by the spunky Medford squad enabled them to regain the lead. Pat Bedard tied the game up with 6:03 left in the third with Haberer and Steve Bedour assisting. This set up a wild finish with Bantams get two draws By BILL CASE The Zurich -Grand Bend Bantam "B" hockey team commenced their season with a home and home series with the Parkhill Rangers. On Saturday night, the locals were in Parkhill where John McAllister scored with eleven seconds remaining to tie the game at 4-4. Other goals went to Bill Mennen with 2 and Chris Denomme with 1. In Zurich on Monday night the same 2 teams battled to a 2-2 tie with Chris Denomme scoring with only 9 seconds remaining in the game. The understaffed Huron Park team could not keep up with, the high flying Flyers squad with 7 goals finding their way past the Huron Park netminder before a Huron Park player found, the range. The McKinnon line consisting of brothers Kevin, Kim and Randy played an important role in the win with Kevin scoring the first goal of the game at the 1:20 mark of the first. Bob Farquhar assisted. Steve Bedour scored the next tally with Dave Cyr assisting. Kevin McKinnon scored what proved to be the winner at the 4:10 of the first with Pat Bedard and Ron Clarke ,assisting. Successive goals by Kim McKinnon with two, Ron Desjardine and Steve Bedour put the game away for the Flyers. Huron Park finally got on the score sheet midway through the second period but Pete Postill and Pat Bedard nullified that goal. The Marauder's last goal came with only 57 seconds left in the second period. Bedard with his second goal of the game and Dave Cyr finished the scoring off. Ron Rader of the Flyers and Randy Foster of the Marauders were named the two stars of the game. The Flyers next home game is on December 4 when they tackle the tough Grand Bend squad.
