Dashwood WI hear speaker

wood Women's Institute. Roll
call, "Name a simple invention
you would dislike being without"
was answered by 17 members
and 18 guests were present.
Jonathan Mellecke favoured with
piano solos. Mrs. Letta Taylor
read a poem "Receipt for
Washing." Guest speaker, Elaine
Townshend, Clinton, was most
interesting. She gave a brief
outline of her life and the ac-
tivities of Alpha.Huron.
Mrs. Ray Rader, president,
dealt with the business. A
donation was given to the blind.
She reported on the workshop
"Program Procedures" which
she and Mrs. Howard Datars had
attended. Mrs. Gordon Bender
gave a report of the executive
meeting held in Hensall.
The 75th anniversary of the
W.I. will be celebrated next year.
The Womeris Institute of Huron
South will also be helping at the
1978 international ploughing
match to be held at Wingham.
Mrs. Eben, Weigand has
replaced Mrs. E. R. Guenther on
the scrap book.
Achievement Day for the 4-H is
December 4 at Stephen Central
School. The group in charge
served lunch.
Birthday upcoming
One of Dashwood's older
citizens Mrs. Susan Snider now a
resident of the Blue Water Rest
Home, Zurich, will be 91,
November 11.
4H meets
Club No. 2 of the 4-H girls held
their 7th meeting last Wednesday
with 16 girls present. Following
opening exercises everyone
helped make fruit fondue with
caramel topping. Two varieties
of cheese were used and several
fruits. The girls and leaders
enjoyed it.
Mrs. Ray Rader discussed
garnishes and accompaniments,
fruit fondues and fruit
specialties. Mrs. Earl Keller
discussed fruit and cheese trays
and fruit arrangements.

Colborne with Mr. & Mrs. Alvin
Bearss. Mrs. Bearss and Mrs.
Chas. Martene celebrated their
birthdays.
50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Scotchmer of Bayfield celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary on Sunday. Married in 1927, the couple lived on the Bron-
son line until 1961. Many relatives and friends were in attendance Sun-
day.
