HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1977-10-27, Page 6Page 6 October 27, 1977 olden Gli pses The beautiful Indian Summer that we are enjoying makes it possible for Residents who enjoy the outdoors to take their daily walks and for Mr, Roy Mac Donald to enjoy a bicycle ride when some of the staff members provide him with a bike. Films were enjoyed on Monday evening followed by refresh- ments. Next Monday evening will be Hallowe'en and the Residents enjoy the visits of the ghosts and goblins and will be prepared to treat the children who are out to trick or treat. Now that we finally received all the equipment that goes with the pool table, some of the Residents are beginning to brush up on their skills, and we invite anyone to drop in for a game. We regret any inconvenience that was caused last Thursday when the movie films "Hans Anderson" that was to beshown was lost in transit. We hope to be able to get it back for the Christmas Programme on December 15 which you will be hearing about later. The movie this Thursday afternoon and evening, October 27 will be the "Wizard of Oz" starring Judy Garland. Both Oldsters and Youngsters who would enjoy this movie are invited to attend. November 19 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm is the annual bazaar and bake sale sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary. We hope you are keeping this date in mind and donations of baking would be very much appreciated. We welcome Miss Viola Cadger formerly of Bayfield as a new Resident. Mr. Eldon Ortwein is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Bingo was enjoyed on Friday evening followed by refresh- ments. The Zurich Mennonite church was in ,charge of the Sunday evening chapel service. Mr. Ervin Steinmann was the minister and was assisted by Mrs. Grace Martin presiding at the organ and Mrs. Doreen Oesch who led in the singing. Residents who enjoyed outings during the week were Mrs. Nellie Cleave, Mr. Roy MacDonald, Mrs. Ellen Thiel, Mrs. Mary Weston, Mrs. Mary Sturley, Mrs. Alma'Southcott and Miss Marie Gelinas. Present pins at CWL event The monthly meeting of St. Boniface council of C.W.L. was held recently. The president opened the meeting with prayer and thanked the members who attended. Roll call was then held and 39 members answered. There was also a good number of visitors. The beautiful ceremony of the living Rosary was held with pastor Fr. Denys leading in prayer followed by the sisters of Sacred Heart Convent and members of C.W.L. and visitors. A good number of members received a 25 -year membership pin. Business was discussed and a bingo to raise money for Brother Bob Mittelholtz will take place on November 12. Mrs. James Bengough donated a quilt to the Sister's annual bazaar to be held in the near future. The meeting was closed with prayer led by Mrs. Jerome Sweeney, President.
