Would-be hikers
rained out
Would-be hikers and
naturalists were disappointed
Sunday afternoon, when a
planned guided hike through the
Bannockburn Wildlife Area was
cancelled. The area is about a
mile east of Varna.
Twenty-five or 30 cars had
already arrived, when it was
announced that the hike had been
called off. Heavy rains had raised
the level of the river, flooding
sections of the trail.
The hike, planned by the
Ausable-Bayfield Conservation
Authority, will not be
rescheduled this fall. The
weather is too uncertain.
