Discuss tax reform

their just tax on their real
property, we'd have the money
and the say so. To hell with
Hepburn's grants that started in
1931."
Reeve Gerry Ginn of Goderich
Township said the Blair Com-
mission had set out to make the
taxation system more equitable
for everyone.
"We all should pay our fair
taxes," Ginn agreed. "The
system we have today is not fair.
It is outdated and even if the
Blair report is implemented, we
will have to look hard at all these
things all the time to make sure
things have not changed. We all
agree the more you make, the
more you should pay. Similarly
where land taxes are concerned,
the more you own, the more you
should pay."

Recruit more to twinning program
The Ontario Ministry of
Education has begun a drive to
recruit more students into its
Project Canada school twinning
program.
Posters and brochures giving
details ofthe program are being
sent to all schools in Canada
urging teachers to participate.
Under the program students in
Ontario classrooms are twinned
with their counterparts in other
parts of Canada. Through the
exchange of class projects,
photographs, audio tapes and
other materials, the students
learn about the geographic,
economic and cultural features of
other parts of Canada.
Education Minister Thomas
Wells said the program helps
Canadian students to achieve a
greater understanding of each
other. It also has academic ad-
vantages because it enchances
social studies, making them
come alive, Mr. Wells said.
Since the program began in
1972 more than 9,500 Ontario
elementary and secondary school
classrooms have been twinned
with a similar number in other
parts of Canada,
