Letter to editor
Dear Madam,
As it has been the custom in
past years, the members of the
Zurich Lions Club will conduct
the fund raising campaign for the
CNIB in the area and this year
this will be carried out during the
first two weeks of October.
The eyes have been called
instruments of the devil and
windows of the soul. Ninety
percent of what we know comes
through the eyes. In fact, the
whole worldis designed for
seeing:-
This
eeing:This same visible universe
must also be understood and
managed by thousands of blind
and visually handicapped per-
sons.
Thanks to the generosity of
sighted persons, and the services
of the Canadian National
Institute for the Blind, most of
them succeed very well. They
read by Braille, large print or
talking book. They walk with a
white cane or a dog guide. Some
are employed often in low paying
jobs because they do not see.
Whatever they do, training,
patience and a host of CNIB
services make up in a small way
for the loss of sight.
So let us think for a moment
about our own eyes, their im-
portance in our lives, and write a
cheque to check blindness.
Campaign Convener,
Claude Gelinas,,,,

Waterloo.
Mrs.. Turkheim reminded
members that this meeting was
to help .put them in the mood for
the assembly, which will be held
in the Church on. Wednesday,
October 26. A social hour
followed.
Zurich 4-H will
feature fruit
The Zurich 4-11 Club has held its
first meeting on the theme
"Featuring Fruit".
Members responded to the roll
call by answering the question,
"Why 'did you take this unit on
Featuring Fruit?" Afterward,
everyone said what fruit they had
had that day.
In the group work session,
Darla Gingerich and Shannon
Smale made Grape Spark, and
Heather Sweeney and Sylvia
Neeb made Date Mallow Chews.
Club officers were elected at
the end of the meeting.
CORRECTION_
It was incorrectly stated in last
week's paper that a sculpture had
been presented to Dr. J. C.
Goddard -by the Clinton Hospital
Board. This should have read
"the South Huron District
Hospital Board".
