Lodge Wednesday evening Hensall 4-H clubs hold meetings "Featuring Fruit''is thetopicfor this fall's 441 clubs. Hensall Unit one met Tuesday, September 20, in the evening at the home of Dianne Gerstenkorn with nine girls answering the roll tall. Sharon Hoffman is the assistant leader. Fruit in general was discussed. Fruit in our daily diet provides vitamin C, which is needed for prevention of disease. The group made Date Mallow Chews and hot Apple Juice drink, which was sampled by all members at the end .of the meeting. Members chose the name _`!Apple Dumpling Gang" for this club. Hensall Unit Two 4-H club met at the home of Joyce Pepper on Tuesday, September 20. Ten members were present. Ideas for the name of the club and for books and covers were discussed. ' The officers were elected at the organizational meeting held previously. The leaders demonstrated making Grape Sparkle, the members tested Apricot Balls and Date Mallow Chews. On Wednesday, September 21, the Hensall Unit Three 4-H club had their first official meeting at JanetBilcke's house.Officers are: president, Vicky Mann; secretary, Janet Bilcke; treasurer, Valerie Baker; and press reporter, Rebecca Jantzi. Assembly President Mrs. Jean' Bolton ad- vised the Lodge to drape the charter in memory of the late Sister Bumstead, Past president of the Rebekah Assembly. Members were reminded of the banquet for Brother John Broadfoot Grand Master of On- tario being held at the Sandpiper Inn, October 22. rs. Dorothy Parker, Noble Grand and Mrs. Hazel Corbett, conductor will canvass for the Institute for the Blind. Mrs. Bertha MacGregor D.D.P. and Mrs. Aldeen Volland R.S.V.G. will assist at the booth October 1st. All members received an in- vitation to attend the Installation at Huronview Lodge, Clinton Oc- tober 3. "Happy Birthday" was extended to Sister Dorothy Corbett, Margaret Consitt and Annie Reid. Mrs. Estella Jackson proposed a name for membership. Lodge closed in regular form. The next regular meeting October 5 will be the Installation of Officers. Many attend golf tourney The Hensall Legion Open Golf Tournament was held at Seaforth Golf Club on Sunday September 25 with a good attendance. Prize winners are as follows: 1- Ken Doig, Seaforth, a gold watch; 2- Gerald Flynn, Hensall, a gold watch; 3- Bob Thomas, Hamilton, set of ass'td tools; 4 - Don Joynt, Hensall, engraved lighter; 5- Art Traquair, Woodstock, engraved lighter. Something new for seniors Citizens News, September 28, 1977 Page 3 Huronview to have day care Mrs. Anne St. Jean gave an interesting outline of plans for the new day care centre to be opened at Huronview to members of the C.C.B. Bluewater Club of Huron County in the Orange Hall in Clinton on September 20. This Hensall Hilda Payne Bertha McGregor centre is to be organized for adults, who will be brought to Huronview by volunteer drivers, whose mileage will be paid. There they can enjoy the services of the beauty or barber shop, foot care, a hot meal at noon for a reasonable charge or a beverage with their own lunch. There will also be entertainment and crafts in which they can join. Muxic at the meeting was provided by Mr. & Mrs. Frank Forrest of Hensall and a contest was held in which all joined. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Gould of Winnipeg visited this week with the former's uncle and aunt Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Munn. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett returned home from a pleasant holiday at Kincardine on a fishing trip. Mrs. Eric Munroe of Seaforth was a recent visitor with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Rev. Young of Goderich con- ducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Miss Brenda Pe rresde i at d the organ. Rev. Fox of Huron College will conduct service next Sunday when the Sacrament of Holy Communion will be dispensed. A joint meeting of the Elders of the congregations will be held at Caven Church, Exeter on Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Adams and Mrs. Blanche Chapman of London were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett. Rev. Harley Moore of Grand Bend was the guest minister at Chiselhurst United Church on Sunday. The Hensall United Church provided special music. The weather co-operated and a good attendance was present. Mr. & Mrs. Ernie Davis returned home from a pleasant vacation to Scotland. Mrs. Glenn Bell and Mrs. .Harry Snell, Exeter spent a few days visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Don Rigby in Blenheim. James Sangster and Jack Peebles, London motored to Portage La Prairie this week to visit Mr. & Mrs. George Sangster. Tuesday, September 27, Mr. & Mrs. Arie Roobal left for Holland, after staying with Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobal for six weeks. While here, they visited with relatives and friends of the Roobals in Seaforth, Clinton, Goderich, Atwood, Stratford, Kitchener, Bradford, Ridgetown and Chatham. Their stay here was a Arnold Circle dine at Exeter inn The Arnold Circle evening Auxiliary of Carmel Presbyterian Church went to dinner at the "Four Way" Inn at Exeter on Tuesday evening and later met at the church where Mrs. Bruce Moir was hostess for their meeting. The Worship was on "Thanksgiving" and was presented by Mrs. William Baker and Mrs. George Shiels. Arrangements were made for the Hensall Fair at the arena, October 1. Winter projects were also discussed and meetings will be held on Tuesday evenings. little disappointing due to illness and poor weather conditions. The occasion was Sim Roobal's birthday. TheServiceat the Hensall United Churcif was conducted by Rev. Don Beck on Sunday, who preached on the subject "God is Here". The place where we are is where God is. We don't need to strive to find God. The 15 -voice choir, led by Mrs. John Turkheim at the organ, sang "Cups of Cold Water". Next Sunday, world- wide communion will be celebrated. Saturday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobal were Mr, & Mrs. S. Damn and Mr. & Mrs. B. Gorton all of Troy. WE GOOFED! Wha t' a Goof! Last week, the Hensall and District Kinettes reported that the annual rum- mage sale is to be set aside this year, but the headline read that it was to be held. Sorry to disap- point you - the sale will NOT be held this year. The paper ap- pologizes for any inconvenience caused by this error. Don't forget the bake sale next Saturday at the arena auction sale. The goodies will be found in the picnic pavilion, next to the arena. All proceeds will go to the arena fund.
