Area residents pay penalty for drinking, driving offences Fines were handed out for a variety of liquor and traffic offences by Justice of the Peace Bruce Ferris, who presided at Exeter Court Tuesday. Peggy Ann Welton, of Parkhill. and formerly of RR 2 Grand Bend, was given three fines. She was fined $54 for driving a motor vehicle in which there was open liquor and a further $58 for failing to provide proof of insurance. The other fine paid by the area woman was also $58 for driving a vehicle with improper licence plates. The court learned that the plates on her vehicle were ac- tually taken off another. Richard E. Welton, same address, was fined $54 for driving a motor vehicle in which there was open liquor. A Huron Park nran, Richard Ridley, was handed two fines. District Obituaries MARTINAM. Predeceased by two grand- children, two brothers, Laurence and' Fred Regier, two sisters, Mrs. Irene Ducharme and Mrs. Louise Miller. Resting at the Westlake Funeral Home, Zurich, until Wednesday, September 7, where funeral mass will be held at 10.30 a.m. at St. Boniface R.C. Church, Zurich. GEORGE McLEOD George David McLeod passed away suddenly as the result of drowning in McGillivray Township on Sunday, August 28, 1977, in his 18th year. Dear son of David and Shirley McLeod of McGillivray Township. Brother of Leonard, Denis, Douglas'" McLeod all of Parkhill, Doreen (Mrs. Glenn Harburn), and Janice McLeod, both of Hensall, Sharon (Mrs. Floyd Pullman) of Lucan, James, of Exeter, Richard of RR 3 Kerwood, Joseph, Peggy, Jamie, Wayne and Dale at home. The funeral was held Tuesday from theM.Box and Son Funeral Home, Parkhill with Rev. E. Hancock officiating. Interment in Parkhill Cemetery. IDA STIRS _ At Strathroy General Hospital on Saturday, August 27, 1977, Ida (Becker) Stire, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of Edward Stire, Dashwood, and dear mother of (Alice) Mrs. Gerd Muller, (Elda) Mrs. John Barr, both of London, and Harold 'Stire of Dashwood. Also loved by eight grand- children. The funeral was held Tuesday from the T. Harry Hoffman Funeral Home and Zion Lutheran Church, Dashwood with Rev. M. Mellecke officiating. Interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. E. L RAY SCHILBE A funeral service was held Friday, August 26 at 1.30 p.m. in the chapel of the A. Millard George Funeral Home in London for E. L. Ray Schilbe, age 51. Mr. Schilbe, Who resided at 59 Westbury Avenue, London, died suddenly at Victoria Hospital, last Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, Audrey, the former Audrey Roulston; by two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Gail) Papp and Mrs. Michael (Janice) Savage, and two sons, Robert and Gary, all of London. Also sur- viving are two sisters, Mrs. Russell (Doreen) Tieman of Exeter and Mrs. John (Sheila) Teevins of Grand Bend; a brother, Hubert of Zurich; his stepmother Mrs. Vera Schilbe of Kitchener and three grand- children, Steven, Stacie and Jamie Papp. Rev. M. Hafner of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church conducted the service. Pallbearers were Richard ''and Wayne Schilbe, Barry and Randy Tiernan, Robbie Teevins and Jim Hoffman. Burial was in Mt. John Paul McDonnell, London, $13 for a speed of 60 in a 50 zone. Anthony Goud, RR 1 Dash- wood, $78 for a speed of 75 in a'S0 zone. Michael Morneau, Huron Park, $53 for failing to obtain a Township of Stephen dog licence. David Frederick Haight, RR 2 Exeter, $58 for failing to provide evidence of insurance for the vehicle he was driving on July 28 and $28 for having no valid driver's licence. Gerald. Cole, RR 2 Forest, $13 for a speed of 60 in a 50 zone. John Melville Campbell, RR 1 Exeter, $54 for driving a motor vehicle with an open, package of liquor, and $13 for speed of 50 in a 40 zone. Past Grand Knight Leo Hagan of Seaforth presented him with a big cheque, representing a $1,000 bill. Proceeds from the draw go to local K. of C. charities. (Expositor Photo) A RUMMAGE SALE IN THE PARK AT ST.JOSEPH — On Saturday members of the Cantin family held an open-air rummage sale in the lit- tle park at the intersection of highways 2-1 and 84. Tables were set up beside the plaque commemorating their ancestor, Narcisse Contin, who tried to promote an all -Canadian seaway system, which featured a canal from St. Joseph to Port Stanley. Narcisse founded the town at" the turn of the century, but it had completely 'disappeared by the time he died there in 1940.
