Ball playoffs are underway
Zurich Comets, our slowpitch
baseball team, are playing
Sunday and Monday at Goderich
on the diamond near the arena.
It's a single -round knockout
series, with finals on Monday.
Zurich's first game is at 3 p.m.
The Stanley Stars, the ladies
softball team, won 25-24 over
Pine Lake in a game August 21,
They will play at home against
Meneset Park of Goderich this
Sunday at 1 p.m.
.In the Recreation League
(fastball), the Pontiacs have
advanced to compete for the
grand championship, after
beating the Shaws two games to
one. In the first game they beat
the Shaws 6-5. In the second the
Shaws were victors, with a score
of 13-3. However, in the deciding
game last Wednesday (August
24) the Pontiacs forged ahead to
win 8-1.
The Oil Burners, meanwhile,
beat the Sunsets 4-1 and 4-2,

Elmer Hohl proves
he's still the best
Elmer Hob! of Wellesley and
Alex Boa of Goderich won the
Ontario Doubles Horseshoe
Championship at Zurich last
Saturday. They were presented
with the Fred Harburn trophy,
Elmer and Alex were among 44
contestants taking part in a long,
hot afternoon of competition on
the ball diamond next to the
arena on Bean Festival day.
Elmer Hohl has a formidable
reputation. He holds the 1977
world championship, and has
held the world championship on
five other occasions.
The only game he and his
partner lost Saturday was to
Elmer's son, 14 -year-old Stephen
Hohl, who was paired with Dave
Kyle of Hensall. Stephen came
second in the world's junior
competition this year and is also
1977 Canadian juniors champion.
Elmer and Stephen went on to
Kitchener Sunday to play in the
Ontario summer games. They
both won.
Winner's in Saturday's A Class

ENUMERATION
STARTS NEXT WEEK
The annual municipal enumeration will begin on Tuesday, September 6,
1977. During this month, an enumerator, carrying a proper identification
card, will call at your residence for a few minutes to check basic information
required in determining:
• the allocation of education property taxes between the public and
separate school systems:
• the distribution of provincial grants to local governments to help reduce
local tax bills:
® the preparation of jurors' lists: and
• population information needed for other municipal programs.
The enumerator must record such information as the name, age, property
status (e.g. owner or tenant), school support and residency of all members of
the household.
When the enumerator visits, please check that the information on the
Enumeration Notice is correct. If it is not, revise it and verify the changes.
If you are not home, a Notice will be left for you. If changes are necessary,
please make them and mail the Enumeration Notice, as soon as possible, in
the self addressed postage prepaid envelope accompanying the Notice. For
any additional information, please contact the local assessment office.
