The last of the summer com-
munity church services was held
on Sunday at Hensall United
Church with Rev, Don Beck in
charge. His sermon was titled "A
Paradox" and dwelt on personal
belief in Christ, which calls for
decision and dedication, though it
may involve a struggle also. Mrs.
John Turkheim played at the
organ and Mrs. Eric Luther sang
"He touched me," accompanied
on the piano by her husband.
Unit 4 will be starting their fall
season of meetings on Thursday,
September 1, with a pot -luck
luncheon at noon.
Congratulations to Rene
Boogemans of Hensall and
Xavier Boogemans of Grand
Bend, who won the expert class
for canoeists at the Ontario
Summer Games at Guelph on
Sunday.
Word has been received that
Gary Merritt, son-in-law of Mr. &
Mrs. Carl Payne, has received
another, promotion and is now a
Master Sergeant in the American
Marine Corns. •
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick returned
home after spending several days
with her son and daughter-in-law
Mr. & Mrs. Bill Shaddick, Mark
and Michelle at Kitchener.
Mrs. Bertha MacGregor
returned home after holidaying
with her son and daughter-in-law
Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren, Jodi
and Brooke at Oakville.

Toronto spent the weekend with

Reformed church ladies took 12
residents to Varna on a picnic
and had treats and games for all.

Church service will be resumed
on Sunday, September 4 in
Carmel Presbyterian church at
the hour of 10:15 a.m. and will be
at that hour during September
and October.
. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Peebles of
London and Mr. Vic Stan, Guelph
were recent visitors with Mr. &
Mrs. James Sangster and Brad.
Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Dick and
Mrs. F. M. Boa returned home
from a pleasant motor trip to
Western Canada.
.Campbell reunion
The Campbell reunion was held
at Hensall Community Park on
Sunday with 90 in attendance.
Sports were conducted by Mrs,
Lawrence Carter of Lucan.
Larry Ducharme, president of
Hensall was in charge of the
business. Don Heywood was
elected president for next year, A
delicious picnic supper was
enjoyed by all who attended.
