It is also Bean Festival time again, time when residents look forward to having old friends and families visiting them. Perhaps you have noticed the beautiful quilt on display at the Blue Water Rest Home. Tickets are available at the office or tuck - shop, also from Auxiliary members. It will be displayed on Bean Festival day, when the draw will be made. The Auxiliary will also have a refreshment booth. Residents and Home derive benefits from both draw and booth. Residents who have been visiting during the week are Pauline Jeffrey, Roy MacDonald, Mary Weston, Ruby Hoggarth, Christine O'Leary, Alma South- cott, Alice Thompson, Gertrude Gittus, Mary Sturley and Fern Bowman. Mr. & Mrs: H.N. White, for- merly of London and Mrs. Peters of the Zurich area have taken up residence in the Maplewoods Apartments. The residents enjoyed a bus trip on Friday afternoon to the Clinton and Seaforth areas. Bingo was played Friday evening. Sunday evening chapel service was conducted by Edgar Cud - more of Exeter. A quartette consisting of Mr. & Mrs. Earl Oesch and Mr. & Mrs. Curtis Gingerich sang during the ser- vice. The organist was Pearl Ann Martin. Former Dashwood resident is buried By MRS. IRVIN RADER Lucy Kfumpp, London, for- merly of Dashwood, attended the News fr H uronview The band concert, planned for family night at Huronview with the Brussels Pipers was post- poned owing to weather con- ditions. Residents provided their own musical program. Elsie Henderson played the piano accompaniment and arranged the program, which consisted of selections by the Huronview Orchestra, vocal solos and duets. Residents taking part were Luella Cox, Josie Cunningham, Myrtle Parker, Ethel Hill, Nelson Lear, Norman Speir, Cecil Skinner, Morgan Dalton and Jerry Collins. The Hurondale Women's Institute from the Exeter area were hosts for the August bir- thday party. The president of the institute, Mrs. Harry Dougall, was master of ceremonies for a variety program, with tap dance and vocal numbers by Lori and Lisa Strong; readings by Louise Oke; and a sing -a -long, led by Fern Dougall, accompanied byMyrtle Brock. The 21 celebrants were presented with gifts by the institute. Jennie McGratton, who is celebrating her 98th birthday this month, thanked the entertainers on behalf of residents. funeral of her father in Bradford, England. Henry Simpson, who lived for some time in Dashwood, passed away at age 78. Some residents of Dashwood and area are planning a three day trip to Letchworth Park, Finger Lakes and Corning Glass Centre. Anyone interested please phone 237-3606 by Friday noon, August 26. Stacey Rader vacationed last week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Scott, Crediton. Mr. & Mrs. Don Love, Dan and Dave, Sudbury, spent last week with Mr. & Mrs. Ross Love. Mr, & Mrs. Lloyd Rader, Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader and Mr. & Mrs. Elgin Rader attended the reception for Mr. & Mrs. Wendell Gamble Saturday, August 20 at Nilestown on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. Mr. & Mrs. John deNiet and Tina, Willowdale, spent some time with Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader also visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Wellwood Gill, Maplewoods apartments, Zurich. Joy, the youth group from Zion Lutheran church met in the church basement August 16. During this Bible study meeting the topic discussed was death. Cindy Becker started the meeting with a diagram illustrating what happens to believers and un- believers. Such questions as "What is Death, what is heaven like, what is death like for Believers and unbelievers?" Many Bible verses were studied in reference to these topics. Three of those injuries resulted from a collision at the junction of Highway 4 and the Kirkton Road on Sunday at 7:55 p.m. A northbound van operated by Molly Smith, Goderich, was in collision with a pickup truck driven by Charles Jackson, RR 1 Granton. Jackson had been southbound and was in the process of making a left turn at the intersection. Both drivers were injured as was Candice Wilson, North Dakota, a passenger in the Smith vehicle. Constable Bob Whiteford in- vestigated and set damage to the Jackson pickup at $5,000 and $2,500 to the Smith van. The other minor injury was reported in a crash on Friday at 3:45 a.m. when a pickup truck driven by Robert Morrissey, RR 2 Crediton, struck a tree on concession 10-11 of Stephen Township, just south of sideroad 15-16. The driver had been nor- thbound and met a southbound vehicle at the crest of a hill and swerved into the ditch to avoid a collision. Constable Jim Rogers set damage at $700. On Friday at 9:00 p.m., vehicles driven by William Medd, Huron Park, and Robert Camp- bell, RR 1 Hensall, collided on concession 2-3 of Hay just north of Highway 83. Damage in that crash was listed at $575 by Constable Frank Giffin. A hit and run is under in- vestigation by Constable Al Quinn. It was reported at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, when a truck owned by Norman Thomson was struck by an unknown vehicle in Norwood Village, just south of Exeter. Damage to the Thomson vehicle was listed at $150. The other accident of the week occurred near the main in- tersection in Hensall on Wed- nesday at 10:00 p.m. A truck driven by James Lee, Willowdale, was proceeding south when a spray boom he was hauling dropped down and hit a road sign and grazed a 1977 Lincoln parked at the Hensall Motors lot.
