Park group
r ledge $1,000
One thousand dollars has been
pledged to the Bayfield Arena
building fund by the villages'
Pioneer Park Association. Half
will be given this year, the rest in
1978, it was decided at their
recent annual meeting.
Sod erosion of the park's
lakeside bank had continued, it
was noted. Little more can be
done to prevent this. Five
groynes had already been built
out into the lake by the
association and neighbouring
property owners in the hope of
building up sand banks and
beach. Another groyne was
added this year at a cost of $720.
A new member appointed to the
board of directors was Armand
Manness. Len Apedaile and
Harry Baker were re -appointed
to three year terms. Other
directors named were Mrs. Gwen
Pemberton, Mrs. Olwen Chap-
man, John Cook, Brigadier
Morgan Smith, Professor Walter
Thompson and Mrs. Marilyn
Gregory.
Professor Thompson was
appointed Chairman. The
retiring chairman, Brigadier
Morgan Smith had held the office
for five years.
