Mr. & Mrs. Earl Laycox
celebrated their Silver Wedding
Anniversary on Saturday with a
large gathering of relatives and
friends in the Seaforth Legion
Hall. Guests were present from
Petawawa, Cochrane, Owen
Sound, London, Ingersoll and
Seaforth. They received many
lovely gifts.
Anne Marie Heard has ob-
tained a position as a directory
assistant with Bell Telephone in
London. She will be sharing an
apartment with Margaret Couper
of Bayfield, who attends school in
London,
Mr. & Mrs. Palmer of Shedden
were weekend guests of Rev. &
Mrs. Alex Taylor. They were
members of Mr. Taylor's former.

Donna Taylor, who was in
hospital for a few days last week,
is home and feeling much better.
Doris McKinley provided
special music for the church
service in Goshen with two

College, Sarnia, Division of Nur-
sing. She is a graduate of South

Douglas Roy is home after
spending two weeks at Camp
Canbay at Bayfield.
Mr. & Mrs. Bill Reid of Sault
Ste. Marie spent a week with his
mother, Mrs. George Reid. Bill
has just completed a six-week
course at Queen's University in
Kingston. Mrs. Reid's grandson,
Bob, and his wife, Karen, of
Waterdown joined them for the
weekend,
A crowd estimated at between
150 and 200 turned out for the
Stanley Recreation corn roast at
the Varna Ball Park on Friday
evening and ate about 45 dozen
cobs of corn, The committee
would like to thank those who
donated corn, and all who helped
on Friday night.
In the ball game preceding the
corn roast, Stanley Township's
Varna and area team won over
the Bluewater team by a score of
20 to 12.
On Saturday evening there was
a poor turnout of Varna players
for the men's slowpitch game,
because so many were working
late at the harvest; but with the
help of some of the boys, they did
fairly well against the Bayfield.

News from
Huronview
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Regier who
celebrated their fifty-eighth wed-
ding anniversary at a family reu-
nion in the Huronview
Auditorium Saturday afternoon.
Eighty-five members of the
family were able to attend the
event and the afternoon
luncheon.
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Luther led
the Sunday evening song service
sponsored by the Christian
Womens Club.
Three residents were welcom-
ed to the Home at Monday's old
tyme music program: Miss
Jackson and Mrs. Glousher of
Blyth and Mr. Harold Tigert of
Port Albert. The Huronview
Orchestra provided the music
with vocal solos by Morgan
Dalton.
The residents were entertained
on Family Night by a musical
group "Country". Dwayne
Tinney is the leader of the band
and plays drums. Cliff McDonald
plays the electric organ; Jim and
Glenn Nott play electric guitars.
Jim Medd is the soloist of the
group singing familiar country
western and sacred numbers.
Mrs. Bessie Elliott thanked the
entertainers on behalf of the
residents.

Mrs. Johns celebrated her 91st
birthday on Friday and her
family surprised her with a birth-
day cake Saturday.
Visitors with Mrs. Johns were
Mary and Howard Johns, Mary
and Roberta Neil. Visitors with
Louise Mitchell were Verna
Coates and Hazel Snell. Lynn
Latimer, Harold Glanville and
Mrs. Reynolds was visited by
Shirley Prouty. Chester and Ila
Dunn visited Vera Lammie.

wife Anna. Joan Bettridge and
Violet Bishop visited Irene
