With the shortening daylight hours, we are well aware that summer is swiftly corning to an end. Along with the vacationing throngs, some of our residents have also been out visiting. Mrs. Susan Snider is still in Alliston. Mrs. Ruby Hoggarth, Mrs. Ann Oligny, Miss Marie Gelinas, Mrs. Mary Sturley, : Mrs, Pauline Jeffery and Roy MacDonald have been with families and friends during the week. Ladies from Zurich Mennonite church visited Monday evening and provided music in the halls. Some of the residents enjoyed a bus ride a week ago Tuesday, through the Grand Bend area to the Klondike and over to Crediton, Exeter, Hensall and back home. We appreciate the fresh garden vegetables and fruits we have received. Somehow, the taste better coming directly from the local gardens. We welcome Mrs. Alice Thompson back from South Huron Hospital and regret that Mrs. Ann Oligny is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, We could use quart -size plastic milk bags in the hobby shop, if you do not have use for them yourself. Bingo was played on Thursday evening, followed by refresh- ments. The Sunday evening chapel service was conducted by Rev. Mellecke of Dashwood Lutheran Church. butler County 4-H arriving this wek Huron County 4-H club members will be hosting eleven 4- H Club members and their chaperones from Butler County, Ohio, on a 4-H Exchange programme during the week of August 6 to August 13. Three near capacity crowds greeted the opening per- formances of the nostalgic 1937 musical and offered it standing ovations. "However, the show, which had heavy advance booking, suffered a severe economic slump when Doug Bale's negative reaction appeared in the Thursday edition of the London Free Press", a spokesman stated. But by week's end enthusiastic audiences helped to turn the tide again to establish the hit which Playhouse Manager, James Murphy, had hoped for. Like all musicals, the production of Babes in Arms represented a huge financial investment. It was the first time the Playhouse had announced in advance a two week run. In past years, Hello Dolly and Barefoot in the Park enjoyed two week runs but these were holdovers. Last season's Anne of Green Gables played two holdover weeks for a total of 18 per- formances to near capacity or sold out houses, Audience surveys indicate a preference for musicals, Mr. Murphy, Playhouse Manager, stated. obert Say: For Flowers Plants or Gifts CALL OR VISIT OUR DADDY'S FLOWER SHOP Grand Bend Flowers - Main St. - 238-8638 Hensall Flowers - King St. - 262-2533 After Hours Farmer Bill's Greenhouses - Dashwood - 237-3228 SAVE $ $ $ $ on these fine USED CARS & TRUCKS 1973 ,GALAXIE-Four door.
