SS hires special teachers
With the hiring of two special
education teachers Monday, the
Huron -Perth County Roman
Catholic Separate School Board
will have the equivalent of ten
full-time special education
teachers providing instruction
inSeptember in the 19 separate
schools in the System. There are
twelve teachers providing this,
several working part time.
Sister Lorraine of Goderich
was hired Monday as a half time
special education teacher at St.
Mary's School, Goderich. Susan
Johnston was hired as a full-time
itinerant special education
teacher,
Elizabeth Clark of Toronto was
appointedas
Y to the system an
itinerant oral French teacher.
Helen Stewart of Milverton was
hired as a music teacher (30 per
cent) to the staff St. Michael's
School, Stratford.
The board will present a gift to
John Vintar in September at the
board -staff dinner. Mr. Vintar
resigned as director of education,
effective August 1, to take a
position as superintendent with
the• Dufferin-Peel Separate
School Board. He is being suc-
ceeded by William Eckert of St.
Marys, presently superintendent
of program with the Huron -Perth
board.

Zurich said he was being

this Sunday
One hundred original -pieces of
art will be for auction at the
Playhouse on Friday, July 31.
The auction begins at 8:30 p.m.
but the works of art go on public
view from 5:00 p.m.
Tickets for the auction which
includes international artists as
well as leading Canadian, are
available throughout the Region.
Reserved seats are unnecessary
but it may be adviseable to
purchase tickets in advance.
Tickets cost $3.00 which include a
chance on the door prize, a
painting being donated by Sharon
Theobald, auctioneer.
A special supper, Lasagna,
French Bread and Salad and
drinks will be served in the
Courtyard beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The meal costs $3.00 per person
and no reservations are
necessary.
The Art Auction is a benefit to
assist the Playhouse with its 1977
Season.
Puppet show
this Saturday
Toronto's Pepi Puppet Theatre
will perform `Hansel & Gretel' at
the Playhouse on Saturday
morning July 30 at 10:30 a.m.
The Pepi Puppets, well known
on television, are recognized as
one of the leading shows of its
kind. The Company, under the
direction of Andrew Taryon, is
actually 25 years old. It had its
origin in Europe before moving to
Toronto five years ago.
Tickets for the performance
are available at a number of
locations throughout the area.
There are no reserved seats for
the performance; tickets may be
purchased at the door. Ticket
prices are $2.50 for adults, $1.25
for children,

about the removal of the portable
classroom atZurich and having it
replaced by one from Seaforth
and said he hoped it would be
explained in the newspapers.
Mr. Geoffrey was assured that
it had been reported following the
last board meeting on June 27 in
the various papers that the
portable classroom in Zurich
which had been leased by the
board was returned to C.L.
Martin from whom'itwasrented,
and replaced by a board owned
portable classroom from
Seaforth which was no longer
required there,

will return for another presen-
tation on Focus on Faith on
September 21,
• Ronald Marcy, chairman of the
property committee, said that of
the committee's budget of $43,000
for the year, $32,784 will be spent
by the end of the summer on
maintenance work in the various
