The 25th annual Merner
reunion
was held d a t the Dash-
wood pavilion on Sunday, July
10. About 80 Merner descendants
enjoyed a delicious smorgasbord
dinner. The smorgasbord table
was centred with a large an-
niversary cake. Individual an-
niversary favours, at each place,
were made by Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Brocic of Hensall.
An afternoon of sports, con-
vened by Mrs. Helen Merner and
Mrs. Linda Merner of Kitchener,
was enjoyed by both young and
old.

president, presided over a short
business meeting, Miss Donna
Merner of Toronto, secretary -
treasurer, read the minutes of the
first reunion held in 1952 and
letters of regret from various

The following were elected for
the next two years: President,
Mrs. Donna Hoffman; first vice-
president, Gerald Merner;
secretary -treasurer, Mrs. Louise
Merner; sports committee, Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Merner; kitchen
committee, Mrs. Kay Bartliff.
The 26th reunion will be held at
Dashwood on the second Sunday
in July.
Sports events for children were
won by Jennifer Bartliff, Kathy
Merner, Jason Merner, Julie
Merner, Marty Merner, Rob
McConaughy, Pete Smith, Jerry
Smith and Andrea Bartliff.
Adult winners were Louise
Merner, Carolyn Merner, Sylvia
Hay survey results

recently completed the report of a survey taken by the directors of
the Hay Township
Federation n i

April.
A total of 84 questionnaires were completed, 60 of those by full
time farmers in the township and 13 part-time. The other 11 were
retired farmers.
The results of the survey are as follows:
Question 1. How many meetings do you feel your Township
Federation should hold annually?
ANSWER - The average number of the survey was - 4
Question 2. Would you attend?

Question 3. Do you feel there is a need for supply management
and border control?

Farmers' Comments included the following: Better drainage,
find out why corn in Ontario sells so low under Chicago prices at On-
tario elevators, more public relations directed at the ISM Member,
Township Federation should take more action on problems in Hay
Township, OFA should supply information in Farm and Country tell-
ing the farmers what they have done to improve agriculture tarrifs.
