Bayfield council met in regular
session Manday and accepted
with regret, the resignation of
MilvenaErickson as a councillor,
to take affect as soon as possible.
Correspondence included a
request from the advertising
committee of the International
Ploughing Association to attach a
sign to the existing signs entering
the community, to advertise the
Ploughing Match in 1978. Council
had no objection but referred the
letter to the Lions Club who
maintain the signs.
A letter from the International
Reference Group on Great Lakes
.Pollution and Land Use
regarding a seminar on July 21
from 7 to 10 p.m. in the board
room of the assessment office in
Goderich.
In other business, council
accepted the physical assets of
the Bayfield Fire Department on
a motion by the Bayfield Fire
Association of June 23, 1977; gave
approval for calcium to be laid on
George St. and Stark St. at the
earliest possible; decided to
submit for tender the Eugene St..
subdivision totaling 71/2 acres (30
lots) for sale subject to a reserve
bid; decided to place posts and
reflectors at either end of the
hedge on Litterdale St.; and
accepted the offer of a mininum
of four lots from the Agricultural
Society on which to construct a
new arena.

Mr. and Mrs. George Durham,
Calgary, Alberta were the guests
of Mrs. Lucy Diehl for ten days.
They were also joined by their
son, Ronald Durham who spent a
few days with Mrs. Diehl at "The
Hut."
Mrs. Leona McKellar of
London is enjoying a visit with
her son-in-law and daughter and
grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Dienn and family.

Slide Presentation by Howey
Langan of Vanastra in the Old
Town Hall on Monday evening,
July 11, at 8:30 p.m. Mr. Langan
has numerous slides of Bayfield
and area and the Historical
Society have asked him to show
them to anyone interested.
Everyone is welcome whether
they belong to the Society or not.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Overboe,
Scott and Theresa of Watford
visited for the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald R.
Mc Leod.
Mr. and Mrs. Rob Irvin and
Robbie, London visited Thursday
with his parents and family, Mr.
and Mrs. E. W. Erickson,
Andrew, Luanne and Lydia and
cousin Bonnie Stewart.
Miss Fran Joyce, Melbourne,
Australia is visiting for\ the
summer with Miss Sally Bennett
in Strathroy and on the weekend
they were the guests of Sally's
parents, Rev. Wm. M. and Mrs.
Bennett.
A very sincere sympathy to Mr.
Fred Ashell and family of
Goderich (formerly of Bayfield)
in the sad loss of his wife Daisy
(Scotchmer), Tuesday June 28.
Mrs. Elsie Sullivan of Port
Huron, Michigan, while visiting
with her sister-in-law in Clinton,
Mrs. Mae McLeod, spent a few
hours with her brother and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Donald R.
McLeod:

spent the weekend with his

where she will spend the week.

London, spent the weekend with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Westlake. Also with the
Westlakes during the weekend
were Mr. and Mrs. Art Edwards
and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall
Morrison all of Kitchener.
While spending a few days with
her brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Florian and Dennis
in Clinton, Mrs. Berthena
Hammond attended the St.
Josephs Church picnic at the
Stewart Middleton Park and the
Memorial Service in Clinton last
Sunday night. Dennis returned to
Bayfield with his Aunt where he
remained for the week.
