Mrs. Jean Bennett attended a
retreat in Sauble Beach held for
the wives of the Clergy of North
and South Saugeen Deaneries on
Mn'iiday and Tuesday last. Mrs.
Floy McFadden was the speaker
Congratulations to Barbara
(Wild) and Bob Desjardine on the
birth of a baby son, Michael
Clement born on Tuesday, June
21 in Victoria Hospital London.
Michael weighed 4 lbs and 7 oz.
and is a new brother for Paula
and Rick. While their mommy
was in Hospital Paula and Rick
stayed with their grandparents,
aunt and uncles, Mr. & Mrs, John
Wild, Theresa, Pat, Joe and Pete,
at RR 3, Bayfield.
Mr. & Mrs. Bob Davidson,
Windsor and • Mrs. Winnie
Davidson, London visited during
the weekend with their son-in-law
and daughter and granddaughter
Mr. & Mrs. Bud Sturgeon.
Mr. & Mrs. Don Johnston had
as their week -end guests his
mother, Mrs. Dorothy. Johnston
and his nephew, Jeff Edwards,
both of Wheatley.
Ms. -Vera Hewitt, London and
Ms. Patricia McGuire, Detroit,
Michigan were weekend
registered guests at the Albion
Hotel. Also honeymooning at the
Albion were Mr. & Mrs. W.
Holmes of Guelph.
Sunday afternoon, Walter and
Milvena Erickson visited friends
in Port Huron, Michigan and
attended the live broadcast of the
Sleepy Le Beef Show and the
Sun Sounds from the stage of
Dutchess Outpost.
Mr, & Mrs. Neil Bennett,
Gareth and Marion of London,
spent the weekend with his
parents, Rev. Wm. N, and Mrs.
Bennett. , .
A sincere sympathy to Mr.
John Wain and family in the loss
of a wife and mother Margaret
(Marks) Wain on' Tuesday last
and to Mrs. Mabel Reid in the loss
of her only. brother Bert Boyes,
Tuesday last.
Seminory Graduation
Commencement Exercises of
the One -Hundred and Sixty -Fifth
Session of Union Theological
Seminary in Virginia were held in
Grace Covenant Presbyterian
Church, Richmond, Virginia on
Sunday evening, May 15, 1977.
In the graduating class were
two young men who were student
ministers in Knox Presbyterian
Church Bayfield; Stephen Farris
B.A. of Toronto and John
Hamilton, B.A. of Lewiston,
Pennsylvania.
During the exercises, Stephen
was awarded the Patrick D.
Miller Memorial Award for
Excellence" in the Study of....
Scripture and he also received a
Graduate Fellowship.
John was awarded the E.T.
George Award for Voice
Improvement and also the
William Monroe Wicker
Memorial Award.
Pioneer Park Rummage Sale
Mrs. Gail Grant, convener of
the annual Pioneer Park rum-
mage sale called to inform the
residents that she will be arriving
at her village residence to -day
(June 30) and will welcome your
calls regarding the pick up ' of
donations for the sale on July 8.
She also said that they are
planning to introduce a "penny
table" for the six years and
under, as an added feature for the
little people. Mrs. Grant will
welcome your calls at ,565-2435.

Minor Soccer
Bayfield Pee Wees minor
soccer team lost heavily to
Clinton in Clinton last Tuesday,
but played a good game. The
Atoms also played very well on
Wednesday night but lost to
Clinton "A" s, 4-1.
The Pee Wees play Goderich
July 7 at Goderich and the Atoms
play the Goderich "B" team in
Bayfield on July 5.
On Sunday, coach Fred Gale
took some of the .soccer team to
Guildwood near Toronto to watch
the Clinton Pee Wees play for the
Ontario Soccer Cup. He reported
that Clinton played a magnificent
game, dominating most of the
play but lost 3-2.
Curling Club
Mrs. Alice Brandon, secretary
treasurer of the Curling Club
reported that they had raised the
in the neighbourhood of $1900.00
from the Auction Sale they
sponsored on Saturday. She said
thanks to those who donated, for

Men's Siowpitch
Pinelake Camp won over
Kitchigami 12-6; Bayfield
Knighthawks beat Paul Bunyan
14-6; Old Homestead Camp lost
to Blue Anchor 15-12; and
Varna won over Bayfield Lions
22-17.
The men's slowpitch league
will be staging a league tour-
nament . beginning Friday
evening July 1 and continuing
June 29, 1977 Page 9
through Saturday starting at 19
noon. The last game of the
tournament will be held at 7 p.m.
All games in the Agricultural
Grounds and are being played in
conjunction with the Arts and
Crafts Show and the 'Lions Club
refreshment tent,
Bayfield Babes
The Bayfield Babes baseball
team on Wednesday night won
over the Bluewater girls in St.
Joseph 37-11. Again on Sunday
the Bayfield Babes trounced the
Pine Lake Panters 25-4 at
Pinelake.
The Bayfield Goodtimes played
the Bluewater Girls in Bayfield
Sunday evening and came out on
top 24-19.
