Blue Jay ball games.
Bridal shower
A bridal shower was held for
Bonnie Stirling on Friday
evening in the Sunday School
rooms. A very funny mock
wedding was performed by
several of the ladies and musical
numbers were given by Bonnie
and Brenda Dowson and Tanis
Chuter, accompanied by Bonnie
on the ukelele. An address of good
wishes was read by Mrs. Carol
Moore, and Bonnie received
many lovely gifts. A delicious
lunch was served by the
hostesses, neighbours of the
Stirlings. .

Congratulations to Scott

runner-up grand champion at
Hensall Fair.
Congratulations also to Dale
Stephenson, who was runner-up
for Best All Round Boy, and to
Lawrence Keys and Michael
Coleman, who tied for Top
Academic Boy at Huron Cen-
tennial School. A banquet was
held on Thursday evening for the
graduating students and their
parents. Michael also gave the
valedictory address.
Wilfred Chuter has returned
from an enjoyable three-week
holiday in England and Scotland.
Some interesting places he
visited on the bus tour were
London, Edinburgh, Loch
Lomond and Stratford-on-Awon.
Mrs. Jack Hunt is home after
spending some time in Huntsville
at her sister's home. She says the
tent caterpillars were so bad
there that sections of the bush
were stripped of foliage, and
driving over them on the road
was like driving in slush.
Mrs. Florence Elliott has
returned from Aurora, where she
spent the past month caring for
her granddaughter Erin.
Mr. & Mrs. Hank Broeze had a
marvellous holiday in the

to Canada
The men of vision who
founded this company -
eighty eight years ago
were all witnesses to
the birth of Canada as a
nation in 1867.
If those men were with
us now, their message
could only be as ours
— "A happy birthday to
Canada — long may
she prosper in peace
and unity".

Orange Lodge
annual parade
into church
The South Huron District
Orange Lodges held their annual
church parade to Varna United
Church on Sunday. Flag bearers
were George Clarke of Bayfield
and David Roy of Varna. Wat
Webster of Clinton was Acting
Marshall. Rev. Alex Taylor
welcomed the Lodge members,
and scripture from II Corin-
thians, chapter 4, was read by
Master Ivan McClymont. The
soloist, Alec Hamilton of Grand
Bend, brought a beautiful
message in the song "How Long
Has ' it Been?" Rev. Taylor's
message concerned loyalty to the
Church of Jesus Christ as being
an important part of loyalty to
fraternal organizations such as
the Orange Lodge.
Following the service, lunch
was served by the Varna Lodge
and their wives.
