Mrs. Hilda. Rader spent several
days in London with Mr. & Mrs.
Colin McGregor and family. She
also attended the graduation of
her granddaughter, Beth, from
public school.
Mrs. Adeline Kraft, Blue Water
Rest Home, Zurich, visited with
Mrs. Amelia Willert, Wednesday
evening.
Over 600 people enjoyed the
strawberry and ham supper
provided by Calvary United
church last Wednesday evening.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Guenther
enjoyed a Leslie get-to-gether
Sunday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. Guenther's brother Mr. &
Mrs. Irving Leslie, Listowel.
Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader were
Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs.
Fred Miller and girls, Zion, on the
occasion of June's birthday.
Miss Edna Willert, Mitchell,
spent Sunday with. Mr. & Mrs.
Melvin Stade and Sherrie.
Mr. & Mrs. Charles Martene
spent a few days at Chatham with
the latter's sister, Mrs. Leslie
Bond due to the death of her
husband and attended the funeral
Tuesday, June 21.
Rev. Mayo Mellecke who has
returned following summer
school at St. Louis, Missouri
reports the corn five feet tall and
wheat harvest finished.
Sunday School picnic
Calvary United church held
their picnic with Sunday School
superintendent, Bob Hoffman
and the teachers in charge.
Results were as follows, ball
throw, Kindergarten, Julie
Schade and Randy Hoffman;
primary, Janice Schade and
Robbie Hoffman; Junior, Faye
Gaiser and Gary Smith; senior,
Paul Gaiser.

Miss Canada to open
Country Playhouse
Miss Canada will cut a simpple
red ribbon at the Country
Playhouse on Tuesday July 5 and
officially open the 1977 Festival of
Summer Theatre.
Mr. Leo Morningstar, co-
ordinator for the event, and Mrs.
Morningstar will host the Board
of Directors dinner for Miss
Canada and other invited guests.
The dinner for approximately 80
people will precede the opening
performance of Plaza Suite.
. Playhouse Business Manager
Paul Harvey said that plenty of
first night tickets are still
available at this point. Playhouse
openings usually attract near
capacity crowds.
The season's opening is a play
about people --very like our-
selves! Set in New York's Plaza
Hotel, it is really 3 plays in one.
The story envolves three dif-
ferent visitors who occupy - on
different occasions - Suite 19, at
the Plaza Hotel.
Returning to their honeymoon
Suite after 23 years of marriage,
one couple finds their marriage
in rough water, but not yet on the
rocks! Episode 11 involves a
famous movie producer who
finds his home -town sweetheart a
match for his making out. Finally
a bride locks herself in the
bathroom on her wedding day
while her parents try to salvage
her $18,000 wedding.
Neil Simon's Plaza Suite is
considered one of his outstanding
comedic " contributions to the
Theatrical repertoire. First
produced in 1968, it enjoyed a
long Broadway run, a film ver-
sion, and productions around the
world.
Plaza Suite, which features
Aileen Taylor -Smith and
Broadway James Hobson,
opens Tuesday July 5 at the
Country Playhouse and plays
through Saturday July 9.
Friends gather
to celebrate
Friends and relations gathered
at the home of Joe and Rose
Regier — the occasion was to
honour their daughter Charlene
who graduated as a Nurse's
Assistant. Also congratulations
were given to Allan Regier for
completing Grade 12 and Pat
Regier for conpleting Grade 8.
"Happy Birthday" was sang to
Marilyn Regier and Mrs. Irene
Finkbeiner. Best Wishes went to
Clem and Theresa Regier for
their 29th anniversary,
After dancing on the sun deck
to music provided by Clare
Masse — a delicious lunch was
served. Charlene thanked the
guests for coming and the gifts
received.

Senior Citizens
Dashwood Senior Cutizens held
their picnic Monday, June 20,
with Mrs. Mervyn Tieman's
group in charge. There were 40 in
attendance.
Bingo was enjoyed by all and it
was decided to play bingo in the
hall at Friedsburg Days. To
celebrate Senior Citizens week a
committee was appointed to go to
Huronview Thursday, June 23,
along with Grand Bend to en-
tertain the residents. Bingo was
enjoyed with several members
going along to help. ,The next
meeting will be in September.
Blyth festival
opens season
The Blyth Summer Festival
opens its 1977 season on July 1
with A Summer Burning, an
original adaptation of Harry
Boyle's novel of the same name.
Patrons are invited to share in
the opening celebrations with the
staff and company of the
Festival.
Square Dancing to the music of
the Festival musicians after the
performance will complete the
evening.
The second play of the season
opens on Monday, July 4. The
Blood is Strong, which played to
packed houses last season, has
been brought back due to popular
demand. The play features
traditional Scottish melodies.
A Summer Burning and The
Blood is Strong will alternate
performances until July 9, and
will return periodically
throughout the season. Tickets
and ,further information can be
had at any Festival ticket outlet
or at the Festival box office
