The expanded quarters will give the veterinary better and more efficient working areas. Photo by McKinley New animal clinic larger Zurich's new veterinary clinic will be completed hopefully by August 1 according to Doug Thiel, but it will likely take a month to get the equipment moved in and functioning. The new facility will not add to the services now provided says Mr. Thiel, but it will consolodate all the veterinary activities under one roof and allow for expanded space for these facilities. At the present time the small animals office is located in the village with the large animal surgery located in Hay township, There will be separate examination rooms, surgery rooms for large and small animals, two kennel rooms, an X- ray room, a dark room and the possibility of setting up a lab to expand diagnostic capabilities. In their present cramped of- fices, the examination room doubles as a surgery, the X-rays must be done in the Kennel room and the darkroom alternates as the washroom. The move to the larger quar- ters will allow ample space for better working conditions, and are located on 84 highway east of the Community Centre. Buckeyes play first tournament of season By PAUL MORRISON The Zurich Buckeye's playing in their first Tournament of the year in Dorchester, won their first game, then lost game two, thus eliminating the Buckeye's from further competition. In game one, the Buckeye's had to play perfect defensive baseball to defeat a strong team from Union by a 1-0 score. It was a particularly satisfying win as it was the first game ever for the new looking Buckeye's with their new uniforms. Dereck O'Brien followed with a sacrifice bunt . moving Wayne Clark to second base. An error by the pitcher also allowed Dereck to reach first base. Then a wild pitch allowed both runners to move up to second and third base. After Paul Morrison popped up to third base for the first out. Pat Bedard came to bat, and laid down a perfect bunt down the first base line scoring Wayne from third base with the only run of the game. Isidore Laporte started the game for Zurich and pitched three strong innings, before running into trouble in the fourth. In the inning Union put runners on second and third with none out. At that point Brian Hodgins came in to relieve Isidore, and did a perfect job as he retired the next three batters without allowing a run. Brian started his good relief job as the first batter he faced popped up to third base Pat Bedard. The next batter grounded to shortstop Rick Schilbe. Rick checked the runner back to third, then fired to first for out number two. The third out was made as the next batter popped up to the catcher Paul Morrison. In the bottom of the seventh inning Union's lead off batter singled. He was then sacrificed to second base. The next batter hit a fly ball to Dereck O'Brien for out number two. After the Union runner stole third base, it set the stage for a great finish, The next Union batter hit a low line drive to left field, that looked like a sure base hit, which would tie the score, but only a great diving catch by Ken Clarke preserved the 1-0 victory for Zurich. The totals for the game were Zurich 1 run 4 hits no errors. Union 0 runs, 5 hits, no errors. In game two the Buckeye's played the Otterville Otters, and lost by a score of 6-3. Otterville jumped into a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Zurich rallied for a run in the third as Rick Fisher, singled, and after moving to third scored on a wild pitch. In the fifth Zurich scored again' as Glen Overholt was safe on an error, and after Please turn to Page 13 Bureau may end Continued from Page 1 county development officer Spence Cummings.
