About twenty neighbours of Mr.
& Mrs. Morris Taylor surprised
them with a farewell party on
Wednesday evening at their
home. A few games of euchre
were played, then an address
which was composed by Mrs.
Jessie Keyes was read by Charles
Kalbfleisch, and Morris and
Connie were presented with gifts,
Morris expressed their ap-
preciation, and a delicious lunch
was served.
Cheryl and Linda Webster are
spending six weeks with a
francophone family and at-
tending a French School in Trois-
Pistoles, Quebec, on the south
bank of the St. Lawrence River
near Rimouski. They are in a
government-sponsored French -
immersion course.

College, and is again working for
Bedard Construction for the
summer. Anne Marie is working
at the Bavarian Inn this summer.
Darryn McAsh celebrated his
fifth birthday on Saturday with a
party for twelve of his friends.

Jewitt, Pat, Lynn and Vickie of
Toronto, Don and Pat Jewitt of
Clinton, and John and Barbara
Jewitt and family of Londesboro.
Paul Stephenson spent a few
days fishing in the French River
area a week ago. Last weekend
Bill Chessell was fishing at
Powassan. Pike fishing was good
at Powassan, but they didn't get
any pickerel or trout.
The Varna Slowpiteh team
defeated Kitchigami Camp 39 to 8
in a game played at the Varna ,
Ball Park on Saturday night.
They play the Old Homestead
next week, and the Lions Club the
following Saturday, games at
8:00 o'clock.

The executive of, the Huron
Plowmen's Association has made
pians for a giant beef barbecue to
be held on Thursday evening,
July 14. Location for the big event
will be the Clinton arena.
Ken Campbell and Murray
Cardiff, who are old hands at the
barbecue business will cater for
the meal which will be served
from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Dancing
will follow to the music of the Ian
Wilbee Orchestra and a refresh
ment bar will be in operation.
Tickets will be $6.00 per per-
son; $3.00 for children under 12
years. The tickets will be avail-
able at Larry Snider Motors in
Exeter; Agripress of Canada in
Hensall; the Agricultural office
in Clinton; The Huron Expositor
in Seaforth and The Advance -
Times office in Wingham.
Purpose of the barbecue is to
focus interest on and raise funds
for the 1978 International Plowing
Match to be held at Wingham in
September next year.
Open House
at Huronview
The week of June 19 to 25 has
been designated Senior Citizens'
Week in Ontario and the residents
of Huronview will be hosting one
or more of the seniors' clubs of
the county each day.
The Committee of
Management has declared .open
house for the week and invites not
only the clubs but all citizens over
60 to come and join in the
programs.
For this week only, the dining
room will be open to senior
visitors and volunteers at $1.00
per meal. It would be appreciated
if clubs or individuals who are
planning to stay for meals would
let us know in advance. Dinner
for visitors will be Served at 12:45
p.m. and supper at 5:30 p.m.
The week's activities will
commence with a special church
service in the auditorium con-
ducted by guest minister, Rev. J.
Lire Stewart of Seaforth. Ontario
St. Church, Clinton, junior choir,
men's quartette and organist
Doris McKinley will provide the
music. Visiting Clubs will be:
Monday, June 20, Bayfield and
Blyth; Tuesday, Brussels and
Clinton; Wednesday, Exeter and
Hensall; Thursday, Dashwood
and Grand Bend; Friday,
Goderich and Zurich; Saturday,
Seaforth and Wingham.
Celebrations will end on
Sunday, June 26 with morning
service in the auditorium con-
ducted by our regular Chaplain,
Rev. W. McWhinnie and special
music by resident, Mrs.
Henderson and an evening song
service with the Clinton Christian
Reformed Church group assisted
by their Senior Citizens.
