Fellowship in rural lite
Fellowship in the Rural Life
was the theme for the June
meeting of Emmanuel L,C.'44.
with 33 members and 13 visitors
attending. Mrs. Elroy Desjardine
opened with scripture followed by
the hymn "For the Beauty of the
Earth" Mrs. Desjardine was
assisted by Mrs. Fern Desjardine
and Mrs. Harvey Clausius who
gave readings on the need of
more fellowship in our everyday
life. Mrs. Desjardine then in-
troduced to us the "Stratford
Duo- Rev. and Mrs. Shatto who
was a former pastor.
They have written six short
dramas and they go all over and
put on these half hour dramas for
the asking. The one they used
last week was written from
Genesis 12: 1-5 where God told
Abraham to take his wife Sara
and leave their country and go to
a land where God led them. Mrs.
Shatto played on the violin, 1

The June meeting of the Zurich
Women's Institute was held
Monday evening in the Hay
Township Hall. Mrs. Leonard
Erb was Chairlady, and her
committee consisted of Mrs. F.
Moore and Mrs. M. Hess.
They presented an interesting
program, with Mrs. Wm.
Ferguson as guest. Her husband
and she operate the Ferguson
Apiaries in Zurich. By means of
slides. Mrs. Ferguson showed the
bees at work in their pollination.
and production of honey. She also
displayed several articles that
are used in their work, such as a
bee smoker, bee veil, new plastic
frame, in place of wooden one
used in the hive for making honey
comb. Mrs. Ferguson also
showed candles made from pure
beeswax.
She explained how honey is
graded, and said the dandelion
was the first source of their honey
crop each year. -
Mrs. Ferguson was welcomed
as a new member of the Institute.
A booth will again be operated
by the Zurich Women's Institute
at the Annual Bean Festival.

Several members of Zurich 4-H
Calf Club were named best dairy
cattle judges at a meeting of the
club.
These members topped the
judging session with their placing
of four dairy cattle from the herd
of William. Steckle. The area
farmer hosted the meeting on
Tuesday evening. June 6.
Each member was required to
place the cows in order from the
best down and give their reasons
for doing so. Before the judging
session the leader. Ray Rasen-
berg.gave an interesting talk on
judging dairy cows showing the
members wha to look for in a too

of the calf on beef. Later the
member corrected together the
last meeting's quiz and the
remarks were recorded.
The next meeting of the club
was set for June 30, and is to be
held at the home of the club
member David Erb. Later the
meeting was adjourned and the
luncheon' was served.

Anywhere. The hymn Breathe on
me Breath of God was sung and
the program was closed with
prayer.
During the business we were
reminded of the invitation to
Hensall L.C.W. on the 20th of
June, also the L.C.W. has the
birthday party at the Bluewater
Rest Home in July with Group
One in charge of the program and
Group Three refreshments.
