Mrs. Ernie Davis who has been a patient in Victoria Hospital London for the past two weeks returned to her home on Satur- day. Mrs. Wilmer Ferguson is a patient in St. Josph's Hospital, London. Charles Mickle, Hamilton spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Laird Mickle and on Sunday they attended the christening of the latter's grandson Jeffrey David Collins, son of Mr. & Mrs. Brian Collins, Kitchener. Mrs. Laird Mickle ck a visited last Friday with Mr. & Mrs. Keith Hillier in London. Mrs. Ina Johns and Mrs. Florence Johns of Exeter and Mr. & Mrs. Bernie Friesen of Staffa visited with Mr. & Mrs. Hans Gerstenkorn and family on Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. John Skea, Colin and Karen of Brampton and Mr. & Mrs. Randy Mason and Andrew of Huron Park visited with the latter's parents Mr. & Mrs. John Skea on Sunday on the occasion of Karen's Christening. Mr. & Mrs. John McGuire, Shannon, Seamus, Brianna of Erin visited with the latter's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Smith on Sunday. Also Jordie Smith of London visited with his grand- parents. Mrs. Audrey Christie was a delegate to the Westminster Weekend 77 held at Westminster College, London May 27-29 at- tending the course "A Faith for these Times." AMBER LODGE MEETS Vice Grand Mrs. Maggie Campbell presided for the meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge Wednesday evening, in the absence of the Noble Grand Mrs. Dorothy Parker. R.S.V.G. Mrs. Aldeen Volland assisted Mrs. Campbell. Arrangements were made to visit Monkton Lodge June 10. The bus will pick up the members at the Lodge Hall at 7 p.m. Any members wishing to go on the bus trip to Toronto from Exeter were to call the Noble Grand as soon as possible. Mrs. Campbell reported for the visiting committee. Following the meeting several members attended the 30th anniversary of Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter. Unit 4U. C. W. The Apostle's Creed and Pentecost were the topics chosen by Mrs. Eric Luther when she gave the study at the June meeting of Unit 4 of the Hensall United Church U.C.W. The Apostle's Creed is in universal acceptance and belief in the Christian Church, dating back to about 500 A.D. and traditionally ascribed to Christ's Apostles. Mrs. Nelly Riley gave the devotional and spoke, on "Peace of the Soul" based on the Biblical verse John 14 vs. 27. The meeting was held on Thursday, afternoon, June 2 in the Fellowship Hall with Mrs. James McAllister presiding. Twenty members were present and it was reported that sixty-seven visits to shut-ins had been made during the month of May. Mrs. Erratt reported that nine boxes had been packed for the bale. Mrs. Sherritt reported on the success of the Beef Bar -B -Q. The meeting had opened with Mrs. McAllister reading a poem., "Ben Adhen" by Leigh Hunt and the hymns,. "Come let us sing of a wonderful love" and "Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?" were sung. The meeting closed with the Benediction and Mrs. H. Luther and her com- mittee served lunch, Church news United The Sacrament of Holy Communion was administered by Rev. Don Beck at the Hensall United Church on Sunday, June 5. A large Communicant Class was admitted to the Membership of the church including the following. Sandra Joan Dixon, Lori Ann Flynn, Linda Dianne Gerstenkorn, Lisa Louise Hamather, Vicki Lyn Mann, Janet Elizabeth McAllister, Murray John McGregor, Laurie Ann Pepper and Marilyn Irene Pepper, and Mrs. Linda Traquair. Reaffirming her Confirmation Vows was Mrs. Joyce Pepper and being welcomed from other churches were Grant and Donna St. John, Preaching on the topic, "What about the Future?" Rev. Beck spoke on the glory associated with the Cross and the coming of the Holy Spirit to the apostles and to us. The choir sang an anthem on the Beatitudes with Miss Mary Goodwin taking the solo part. Following the service, a reception was held for the new members of the church. Flowers in the Sanctuary were placed in loving memory of Susan Lynn Wright and from the funeral of Mrs. Verna Twitchell placed by her family. Carmel Church birthday The president of the W.M.S. of Carmel Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Harvey Hyde, presided at Citizens News, June 8, 1977 Page 3 the 87th anniversary on Monday evening, and welcomed guests who attended from the UCW of Hensall United Church, Kippen United Church, Chiselhurst United Church , the Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary Seaforth and the Arnold Circle Evening Auxiliary. Mrs. Hyde welcomed the guests and read a poem "My Creed." The devotional was taken by Mrs. Edith Bell on "Faith". Mrs. Esther Wright gave a reading for the devotional "He Touched Me." Mrs. Bertha MacGregor read the Scripture and led in prayer. The Pepper Sisters sang two numbers "Pass It On" and "Sing a Song" accompanied by their sister Miss Brenda Pepper at the piano. Mrs. Emma Campbell in- troduced the guest speakers, Rev. Bruce Pierce and Mrs. Pierce of Crediton. They showed pictures of Western Canada which were very picturesque and Mrs. Pierce commentated them in her usual humorous manner. Mrs. Bertha MacGregor thanked the Pierce 's and the Pepper sisters for their con- tribution to the program. Many articles were on display of Canadian culture.
