Zurich 4-H calf club meets
The second meeting of the
Zurich 4-H Calf Club was held at
Jim Loves, May 25 at 8 p.m. The
4-H pledge was then repeated by
each member. Then the roll call
was checked off by the secretary,
Kathy Love, with each member
present. The minutes of the last
meeting was read by the
Shower for
bride-to-be
On May 22, 1977, a Bridal
Shower was held in St. Peter's
Parish Hall, St. Joseph, for
Valerie Regier, given by her
sister, a Bridesmaid, Mrs.
Sharon Rau.
Many games of Bingo and Date
games were played.
After opening her gifts, Val
thanked for all the beautiful
gifts she received, also everyone
who had helped in any way
preparing this shower, and for
coming, some from quite a
distance, being the holiday
weekend was harder to make it,
and the extremely hot weather
conditions.
The afternoon concluded with a
hot buffet lunch.
Ever Young
Seniors meet
The Bayfield' Ever Young
Senior Citizens Club met on
Thursday May 26 in the
Municipal Building. President
Harry Baker chaired the
meeting. There were thirty
members and four guests
present. In the absence of the
secretary, Mrs. Fern Baker read
the minutes of the previous
meeting.
Esther Makins gave a report on
a bus trip she and her husband
Lloyd had taken to Kleinburg.
Every Club in Zone 8 was
represented. They arrived there
at 12:45 and were served lunch;
after which they toured 30 art
galleries, viewing 900 pieces of
art.Thegallery is situated on the
Humber River directly across
from Pierre Burton's home.
During the business session,
plans were made for a picnic on
June 23. All members planning to
go are to meet at the Municipal
Building at 1:00 p.m., then on to
Goderich to tour the Huron
County Museum followed by a
picnic in Harbour Park.
Following adjournment a few
games of euchre were played
with prizes going to Dorothy
Weston, ladies high; Margaret
Lynn, ladies low; Claire Merner,
mens high; George Brown, mens
low.
Lunch was served by those in
charge.

Final plans to survey a beef
farm was decided on July 6. All
members were invited to the
Hensall Spring Fair with their
calves (beef) for showmanship.
Later the quiz was handed out to
each beef and dairy member,
based on dairy milk recording
and body type, and the
management of the beef herd.
The last meeting's quiz was
corrected and recorded by the
Leader, Ray Rasenberg, overall
the marks were fairly good.
Later following the quiz, the
meeting was adjourned and the
luncheon was then served.
